Well according to the Sky article:

The former Going Live! and The Cube presenter said he had not had his hand forced in coming out:

"This is my decision," he said. "This is absolutely my decision, it was something I knew I had to do."

Asked why he was announcing it now, Schofield said: "I wasn't being honest with myself."

The 57-year-old said: "This has been bothering me for a very long time, everybody does these things at their own speed, when they think the time is right.
