Comedy actor Orson Bean has died, 91

Orson Bean was Dr Lester in Being John Malkovich ("Pardon me but how old are you, sir?" / "A hundred and five. Carrot Juice.") and Mr Bevis on The Twilight Zone and a classic That Guy.

I'm surprisingly upset by this. He was 91, so fair innings and all that, but he wasn't ill or anything and in fact still working. Hit by a car while out for a walk. Fuck that.

Anyway, he wasn't mega-famous but I thought he was great and probably some of you did too.

Bloody tragic, Rest in Peace. To be honest I only recall him from his very funny appearance in Being John Malkovich... I knew his name from voicing Bilbo Baggins in those Rankin/Bass Hobbit/LOTR animations but I never knew that was him.

Afraid in later life he became somewhat right-wing, and was credited as an influence politically by his son-in-law, the thankfully deceased Andrew Breitbart, whose toilet of a website Bean wrote the occasional article for. (There's also a racist joke about an hour into the solo show the OP linked to.)
