Oh no, I love P-Model. I don't have time to love P-Model.

I've been listening solely to P-Model and Susumu Hirasawa for the past few weeks.

I like the quirky New Wave stuff, but that's my jam and I'm steeped in so much of that stuff that Susumu's and P-Model's later dense anthemic synthscapes leap out to me much more.  It was some kind of bizarre mutation of Big Beat; orchestral techno maybe. Between '92's P-Model and '97's Enola everything they did was so fucking thick and layered.  I probably wouldn't usually be into that kinda scene if Susumu Hirasawa wasn't such a master at dropping melodies like they're flakes of skin.

Of course, the theme to Paranoia Agent's also a very good thing.  And his solo album Kyuusai no Gihou is one of the best albums he ever made.  It's like he added five layers to his sound with every new album.
