They accidentally put the pyramid upside-down
It's a graphic design error

and yet

a million people on Twitter saying "HOW DARE YOU THINK THAT WHITE MALES ARE THE LEAST PRIVILEGED"

no they just didn't make a very clear graphic. A newborn baby could see this.

"SO RAPE VICTIMS ARE THE MOST PRIVILEGED PEOPLE IN SOCIETY ARE THEY?!"

No, the graphic isn't a very good one, their intentions were the reverse of...

"SO YOU THINK REFUGEES ARE AT THE TOP OF SOCIETY HUH"

Shoulders?-Stomach!

Doesn't matter.

That's an emancipating feeling you can enjoy when you decide to co-ordinate your existence outside of the point scoring cesspit that is Twitter.

It doesn't matter.

The thing itself doesn't greatly matter. And the remarks on twitter don't matter in any way whatsoever.

Dewt

"HUH TYPICAL A WHITE MALE WROTE THIS"

Yeah, he's saying that he is the most privileged in society though. You see, the graphic is poorly-designed and...

"WHITE MALES ARE THE MOST PRIVILEGED IN SOCIETY!"

That's right, and

"HOW DARE THEY SAY OTHERWISE"

Twitter has highs and lows and sometimes it would be nice to be able to talk about some of it without people feeling they need to chime in with the MOST BORING OPINION IN THE WORLD which is that Twitter is uniformly bad and that they themselves are awfully wise for choosing not to use it

Let people discuss social dynamics without saying this boring and wrong thing. I am very sorry you cannot use Twitter effectively but I will never care. Same goes for reddit or Facebook or anything else. We all take it as read that there are ten people lurking around every social media discussion who have your opinion, WE KNOW, so please just keep your trap shut so that there can be any discussion at all that isn't HOW GREAT IT IS THAT YOU DON'T USE TWITTER

The one that is documented above, Buelligan.

I've read it twice - and the OP twice.  I'm asking for clarification.

bgmnts

Actually hang on, its a pisstake, the article states "How social justice ideology fueled the reordering of politics to eradicate meritocracy".

So Dewts has got it wrong on twitter getting it wrong.

Fucksake Dewt accidentally put Twitter upside down again.

I think the pyramid is meant to represent how 'woke' people classify each segment of society, with the more oppressed/marginalized people having greater inherent virtue and therefore get to be at the top of the pyramid.

People on twitter interpret it as "people at the top of the pyramid are least oppressed".

It's not very clear

Buelligan

I think the people on twitter - the tweets linked in the OP anyway - are responding to the idea posited in the article that they (the people at the top of the pyramid graphic) are more privileged than cis white men.  That, to me, seems the thrust.

QDRPHNC

Yeah, I was going to say, it doesn't look like a graphic design error, someone probably spent quite a bit of time on that.

I can't work out if the replies are being stupid or not (other than the fact they are stupid enough to use Twitter - LOL!).  Here is the actual article:
https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/the-privilege-pyramid

As far as I can see, people are reading it similarly to how it's meant to be read.

QuoteWho has the power in America's culture now? The social justice movement does, and that power is reinforced by Hollywood, the news media, academia, and much of the Washington political establishment.
[...]
It instead trains its energy on bringing down the "privileged" and reordering the social hierarchy around identity and grievance. It wants the moral superiority of the oppressed moved to the top and nothing less.
[...]
If standpoint knowledge functions as the brain of social justice ideology, its heart is intersectionality, an ever-shifting ranking system that determines who is more aggrieved than the next, who deserves more deference than the other. It's a hazy, nonconcrete way of measuring overlapping identities and their corresponding hardships and victimhood. The more cross sections of oppressed identities an individual can claim, the higher his or her status on the intersectionality scale.

EDIT:
He has a book published yesterday called "Privileged Victims: How America's Culture Fascists Hijacked the Country and Elevated Its Worst People".

Found the article. Tried to read it but it's dogshit don't bother.  But this paragraph does show what they were going for in the graphic:

QuoteNietzsche was identifying and criticizing the notion that those at the bottom of civilized societies should be presumed virtuous and admirable simply by nature of their suffering and disadvantages. But that concept is precisely what forms the basis of the present social justice movement. According to the movement and its ideology, the good, virtuous, and admirable are those who claim to have been aggrieved on account of their race, gender, or sexuality. Under social justice, asserting grievance and claiming oppression earns an individual a higher moral worth than those who are deemed "privileged."

So the pyramid is mean to represent "moral worth" I guess.

It's Worst People?

Fucking hell.

Lose the apostrophe or I'm afraid you'll have to join them.

If the Washington Examiner is going with articles like this, it should really consider changing its logo to something that looks a little less like something that would be pinned to a Nazi general's lapel.

Paul Calf

It's performance art.

Or a load of cunts who have no idea what they're doing.

It's often difficult to tell the difference.

Yes that's some very loud impressive noise smokescreening what you know is true: this doesn't matter.

His other winning sentences:

College-aged men are facing this problem across the country on campuses where simple regret is now synonymous with sexual misconduct.

What if you had West on TV comparing you to a father figure?

As fate would have it, Trump has both of those things.

But more importantly:

So I guess people on Twitter are being quite wilfully stupid.

damn dewt eating a big dinner of shit over this. 'it's a graphic design error!' is it mate. is it. damn dewt

it's true everything posted here does have to matter, it's a waste of time to just chat away about things that fall below a certain line of importance, no good has ever come of that. i am glad that there are people here who have the knowledge and wisdom to be able to determine what people should talk about. keeps us productive, healthy, normal
