Time Enough At Last

Initial work ban of two weeks starts on Monday, what can I achieve?  Getting the trinity of CaB interests out of the way – wanking, eating crisps* and watching Frank Sidebottom videos – what else is worth considering?

I've already found a copy of Ducks, Newburyport in Oxfam but it would be nice to get something practical on the go too like making a Taj Mahal out of old jam jars.  Any ideas?

* oh god those double crunch cheese and onion, bugger me upright.

Recreate some assortments.  Start with biscuits so you can bed in.  Peak Freans Assortments contained nine types of biscuits all baked very well.  Do these, and also make the tin.  Once you've mastered this and sent it to me crack on with some chocolate assortments.  Send these to me.

If you're still in isolation after several years then recreate some selections.

Watch a shedload of Jackie Chan films.

I have 61 days, 3 hours, 42 minutes and 18 seconds of music in my iTunes library. I reckon I'll be able to get through it all by the time it's over.

This reminds me of the Charles Bronson fitness book.  He talks about push-ups, fine, he talks about sit-ups, fine, hauling yourself on an upturned bed, fine, seeing how much water you can suck into your arse and how long you can hold it in for – WHAT?!

A few weeks ago I was sort of vaguely musing on starting a thread about finding the time to do stuff, as in non-essential leisure stuff, because I had a weird existential moment of melancholy thinking about all the books I'll never read/albums or artists I'll never listen to/films I'll never watch etc. And now this happens.

I'm toying with the idea of buying a keyboard (one that I can plug headphones into, so I don't drive my lovely flatmate up the wall) - I used to play a bit years ago but I suspect having to listen to my efforts now would send anyone rushing into the streets, begging for the sweet embrace of the COVID.

It would be amazing if this virus heralded some sort of renaissance era, and everyone came out the other side as sparklingly literate polyglot savants. Obviously we're all just going to be glassy-eyed pasty lumpen fucks from a 2-week diet of complex carbs and porn, but we can dream.

Or a sitar.  Just do it with your mouth and vocal organs.

I'd recommend finally reading the 50 issue Alf run - https://readcomiconline.to/Comic/ALF - you might think reading about an alien trying to eat a cat would get boring, but you'd be wrong!

Intend to just read forever but then break your glasses so you can't see anything.

^ But that's not fair!  As if it's been designed, as if someone or something is behind it all.

That's a good shout, I never did master the slow cooker so I can give that a go.

One of the most poignant bits of the Being Frank film was when he mentioned to a friend he'd watched all his Beatles DVDs (I think he had a lot).  Just that little bit of finality.

Order a single banana off of tescos and press your anus against the letterbox.

I've taken my own advice and bought a shitload of flour, doing a load of bagels for breakfast/lunch for the week coz I'll be at home (ostensibly working).

Sebastian Cobb

I got bacon and black pudding in to celebrate being able to work from home.

I've just realised (obviously) that the thread title isn't just reminiscent of the Twilight Zone ep I'm referring to, it's the exact title, so directly referencing it too. Sorry everyone, I'll pay more attention in future.

Too late, already reported.

Social isolation isn't a problem. Back in the day we used to call it CaB Radio. You should try it. It almost feels like having friends, I'm told.
