I might get in a lot of trouble over this. Hopefully this forum is obscure enough that nobody from the company I work for, a major hospitality chain isn't going to be prying, but I can't keep this in.
From what I can gather, the reasons Pubs and Hostelries are still open is that the CEOs are waiting for the government to drop fat insurance packages to cover their losses.
This weekend, would have been one of the biggest earners of the year - Mother's Day. Despite cancellations being rife, (one of our sister pubs went from 200+ covers to 11. 11 people that is not tables) unless we are put into mandatory lockdown, or our because our management cuts hours, we still have to turn up to work.
Vicious cycle, Pubs and restaurants still open, people who should be at home, are going to visit putting our lives at risk. People still need to work to make money. Less hours, less money. Get people in, more money in those fewer hours. It's really stressful.
If you want to self isolate the money, you have to dip into your holiday allowance, unless you are actually sick which case you get standard sick pay ie fuck all.
