I'm recently loving this kind of stuff. Yes I lived through britpop and this was a thing in 1997 but this kind of music is bringing me immense joy. What the fuck is it though?

Spy music? Ace Records did a nice compilation of similar stuff.  https://acerecords.co.uk/come-spy-with-us

maybe?
It might have been called Schlager in Germany, but in the UK The likes of Tony Christie, Englebert Humperdinck et al were always just Easy Listening.

Sin Agog

Could possibly qualify as Baroque Pop.

One of my favourite songs since hearing it on a Lee and Herring Radio 1 show. Lovely singer. The overall aesthetic of the music is so different from the violence that pops up in the lyrics. Love it.

Used to end the night with this (or The Wonder of You) when I ran a club in the nineties.

Urgh! Yes, it's Easy Listening. I grew up being subjected to that shite. It's the only genre I'd carry out my own personal Fahrenheit 451 (or whatever the temperature is for vinyl, CDs or servers) against, if I had the chance.

It's also known as DEAD SOON.

Easy Listening if you were hearing it in the seventies. If you were latching onto it in the nineties it was Loungecore.
