Cash and ATM machines

Is it safe to handle cash from the local shopkeeper, in these infectious times? It passes through hundreds of hands and is probably the most pestilent of items. I used to work in a supermarket and I'm all too familiar with the unsanitary sources of that till money. I once had a customer pull a wad of cash out of his manky shoe.

And what about ATM machines? My nearest machine has graffiti, gob stains, and on some days a faint whiff of urine. It looks like a nest of disease, just waiting to dirty up my digits with the Big Corona.
