Coventry to the rescue!!!
« on: March 25, 2020, 05:50:27 PM »
405,000 volunteers is an impressive figure.  "It's the same number as the population of Coventry!" somehow makes it seem less so.  What an odd comparison!

Not that I'm having a go at Coventry.  It's just that the comparison does nothing to help you appreciate better the scale of the effort.

Be funny if all of the volunteers had coronavirus.

THIS IS THE ONE THING WE DIDN'T WANT TO HAPPEN.

I'm imagining an army of Pete Waterman and Steve Ogrizovic lookalikes coming to the country's rescue.

It must have resembled that scene in "Bottom" where Richie and Eddie are beating up the gas man.

Quite bit of affection for Coventry, and it's partly because of the kicking it gets from the senseless and unthinking.  Having said that massively glad I don't live there any more.  Terrible toilet.

I thought the thread was going to be about this, slightly less positive, Coventry-related COVID news:
