I did not know this existed. I love the way he does songwriting every so slightly wrong, jams too much in there, doesn't quite let the strong structure be dynamic enough and it just hurts you hard in a really good way. The melody is like a pop rap song from the 90s and the chip tune backing is great. No idea how the person with the violin is involved but please continue.

And no I am NOT drunk or high all I've had is some chia seeds and some rice.

Tay Zonday was always part of conscious rap- 'Chocolate Rain' was a sincere song. Music of this kind I think is referred to 'outsider music'. Sometimes they're self taught and do everything, sometimes they write the lyrics and get musicians to sing, produce and record it. There was a really good documentary a few years back. There was also a really good song on that documentary so now I am going to spend the next few hours trying to find (I don't think it's the one on youtube).

Edit: Ah found it was called Off the Charts: The Song-Poem Story Soundtrack https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TsPnKhrUaFI

Are those RSI braces he's wearing at the end? Looks like all those Chocolate Rain arpeggios haven taken their toll.

Doesn't grab me like Chocolate Rain did (I genuinely think that's a great song), but the world is probably a better place for its existence. Fair fucks to the geezer.
