The narrator of "Crocodile Rock" is living alone in a lighthouse, years after the events of the song.
The clues are right there:
- "skimming stones", well that's something you can only do near water, usually the ocean, BUT you need rocks... maybe a rocky outcrop by the ocean is the place a stone-skimmer would be attracted to??
- "and the rock just died"... sounds like he traded one "rock" for another, maybe that which is found under a lighthouse???
- "some foreign guy", maybe a coastal outpost is a good place to keep your eye on foreign devils
- where do "crocodiles" live anyway?? That's right, IN THE WATER... the same WATER that would be near a lighthouse. Case closed
