Damn everyone getting injured on Dynamite tonight. That Fenix landing on the outside was nasty. And the Britt's leg buckling when Nyla landed on it. Gnarly.

Moribunderast

Ja'moke

Nice to see Dynamite back in the Top 10 this week, now that people are finally getting sick of watching news shows. Well, apart from the Fox News viewers, obviously.

up_the_hampipe

I don't know if anyone's been following the Tom Segura vs. Wrestling feud, but it's very entertaining. He's made himself into a wrestling character and got fake endorsements from big names https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tISdyMLEwKY

Ryan Satin had a bitch fit on Twitter. So many wrestling fans are an embarrassment.

Gurke and Hare

Double or Nothing then. Anyone else planning to stay up[nb]Or at least, in my case, try to stay up but probably have to catch up with the last couple of hours on Sunday[/nb]?

Nothing confirmed yet, but the consensus on the Twitter seems to be that Britt Baker is out for months after having Nyla thrown onto her knee, so it will either be a match down or they'll find a replacement - I'd guess Penelope Ford would be the obvious one at this point.

Ja'moke

I'll be watching live, yes.

Predictions...

AEW World Title - Jon Moxley (c) vs. Brodie Lee
Mox retains. I'm expecting a solid match, but the feud feels rather thrown together... clearly a result of the pandemic and MJF not been available for those Georgia tapings. Not sure where Brodie and the Dark Order go from this loss though.

TNT Title Match - Cody vs. Lance Archer
Cody has lost his last couple of big PPV matches. Will he lose again here? He should do because Archer has been on a tear and I don't think he should lose just yet. But with Arn and Jake and Brandi and Mike Tyson all involved, there is going to be shenanigans aplenty. I'm going to say Cody wins.

Stadium Stampede Match - The Elite & Matt Hardy vs. The Inner Circle
This should be fun. It was great to see the Bucks and especially Hangman back on Dynamite this week. I think the Elite guys are due a win here.

AEW Women's Title - Nyla Rose (c) vs. Hikaru Shida
It's a shame Nyla pinned Shida in that tag match this week, just days before the PPV. I suspect that was a quickly changed ending after Britt got injured, but still, it hurts the match a little because I still expect Nyla to win here. Shida is great and Nyla has really grown on me. Hoping for a good match, especially with the No DQ stip.

Casino Ladder Match
This will be nuts. Hoping that Fenix is good to go after his nasty bump on this week's Dynamite. I'm going to say Darby wins it, though. As for the surprise entrant? Hmm. I've seen some speculationg Chris Hero, some others think Gulak. But I'm going to say Flip Gordon. I seem to remember his contract with ROH being up this month.

Britt Baker vs. Kris Statlander
I doubt this one is happening now after Britt's injury on Dynamite, which is a shame because Britt has become the star of the division since she turned heel. If it happens, I expect Statlander to get the win.

MJF vs. Jungle Boy
I really enjoyed the match they had on Dynamite a few months back. Two of the future stars of the company. I don't think MJF has been beaten yet in singles action, so he'll probably continue his winning ways here.

Shawn Spears vs. Dustin Rhodes
Probably the match I'm least excited about, although I have been enjoying Spears recent shtick at ringside and the news segments. I'll say Spears wins.

Buy-In Match - Private Party vs. Best Friends
This should be a fast paced match to kick off the night. Best Friends have really shined during this no crowd era, putting in some great work at those Georgia taping shows. I'll say Best Friends take the win here.

Timothy

AEW World Title - Jon Moxley (c) vs. Brodie Lee
Brodie Lee. Because it's the main event I can't see this match ending with shenanigans and I can't see Lee losing clean.

TNT Title Match - Cody vs. Lance Archer
I expected Archer to win. But after the news that Tyson is in it's definitely gonna be Cody.

Stadium Stampede Match - The Elite & Matt Hardy vs. The Inner Circle
The Elite. This is the match I'm looking forward to the most.

AEW Women's Title - Nyla Rose (c) vs. Hikaru Shida
I expect that Nyla is gonna retain.

Casino Ladder Match
Really no idea who's gonna win this one. I hope there is a way that Pac returns but that's probably not possible with him being in the UK.

Britt Baker vs. Kris Statlander
Is probably off the card due to injury. Shame.

MJF vs. Jungle Boy
MJF. Looking forward to this match. Both are great.

Shawn Spears vs. Dustin Rhodes
Meh. I expect Dusty to win.

Buy-In Match - Private Party vs. Best Friends
Best Friends. This is gonna be a great match.

Gonna watch the PPV Sunday morning.

This has been my problem with Cody's AEW matches, theyre overbooked to fuck. Grand entrances, lots of people at ringside, lots of blood, ref bumps, interference, finisher kickouts, he seems to have trouble just having an actual match. He seems to just want to be his dad in the 80s.

This often happens when wrestlers get the pencil. See also Triple H and Jeff Jarrett.

kitsofan34

He's also clearly the best booker of the lot, every single of his feuds has been immense. Tad trepidatioushe's gonna' win the title tomorrow night but otherwise I really can't fault his work.

weekender

MJF vs. Jungle Boy

This looks like an amazing match-up.

BeardFaceMan

I'm sure Cody has some input but its Khan who's the booker. Cody has been doing well (well, all of The Elite bunch, really) in not being at the top of every card and having all the titles and winning every match, I could just do with a bit less shenanigans in Cody's matches. Cody is just a bit too old-school for my liking, its like he wants to look back more than he wants to look forward.

It's either a stunning coincidence, or all of Cody's feuds have been the best in the company [nb]with the exception of the miracle job they've done with Hangman. Though they've been hitting that same "Hangman kicks ass then snubs the Elite" beat for months.[/nb] and I'm pretty sure he's involved in that. Khan is the main booker, yes, but I believe the Bucks do the tag team stuff, Omega the women's and Cody's role is a little vague. The Shawn Spears angle was really fucking good, his match with Dustin borderline perfect. They've never topped the Jericho feud, in particular that angle where MJF gave his scarf for Cody to punch through the VIP window. I keep going back to that moment, over and over, it's just such a perfect little detail that (sorry) WWE nowadays would never add. Throughout that feud they threaded MJF's shadiness, introducing him to the fans before his eventual turn and most importantly, forcing himself permanently from the title picture shows a modesty that the likes of Jeff fucking Jarrett never had. He's elevated Darby Allin, and is in the most anticipated match of the PPV against Archer.

He's a right wing, cigar loving lame-o with a bad neck tattoo, but he does have a knack for this wrestling business.

BeardFaceMan

Like I say, it's not so much the booking and the feuds that's the problem when it comes to Cody, more the actual matches. No run-ins, no ref bumps, no outside interference, no stipulations, just have a match. As has been said, you only have to look at all the people at ringside for this title match to know things aren't going to go smoothly. I'd much rather he have the type of match he had recently with Darby more often and keep the shenanigans for special occasions, rather than it be the other way around.

hummingofevil

Hana Kimura has died.

Won't go into detail but I just happened to see this happening on Twitter in real time and tried to contact anyone I thought could help knowing it was middle of night in Tokyo. Oh this is horrible.

What an absolutely dreadful week.

That's fucking horrible. This year man. She was so young and super talented and some fuckers just can't help spreading their poison, driving people to do shit like this. Awful awful.

RIP Hana.

Moribunderast

I kinda vented on the F4O forums about this so I don't have the energy to do it again but fucking hell. What a horrible week to be a fan of wrestling and what a tragic, pointless loss. The way people are to one another on social media is something I will never understand and why I mostly avoid it. Fucking toxic.

I know on this forum we have a lot of people who've suffered depression and the like (myself included) and all I can do is beg anyone suffering to call a helpline or a friend or fucken PM someone here. I also know that at the depths of depression that doesn't feel like an option but I think it's important to constantly drill that message into people. I often don't take the advice and suffer in silence but have been getting better at it.

Fuck. What an awful week.

Deanjam

Just watched the Owen Hart Dark Side of the Ring episode. Really brought it home seeing the pictures of the ring with blood stains on it that the wrestlers had to continue working on. I thought his family came across really well. Far from bitter, they've moved past the bullshit of wrestling and made lives for themselves in the real world, setting up a foundation to help single parents, and his son becoming a human rights lawyer. Seems to have turned opinion from a lot of fans around thankfully, although there still appears to be some dicks out there.

Anyway, definitely a good watch. It's on youtube if anyone fancies it.

Felt a bit wobbly all day but just had a few hours drinking cocktails with family on zoom so up for AEW. Let's hope it is fun show...

Deadman97

Darby takes some disgusting bumps man. I fucking love him but he ain't gonna be around for long.

Mobius

Yeah seriously that kid has a death wish. The skateboard off the ladder was pointless.

Ja'moke

Great seeing Brian Cage, but that ladder match was too messy for my liking.

MJF v Jungle Boy on the other hand, superb. Great chemistry between those two.

Ja'moke

Ja'moke

Ok, Mox and Brodie was ace too. Proper nasty vicious fight.

Ja'moke

Stampede one of the funniest matches ever. Cheered me right up.

Moribunderast

The Stadium Stampede was absolutely brilliant. I don't think I stopped laughing from the beginning of the bar fight to the final pinfall. So much imagination and creativity going on.

Pretty much liked every match. Shida's win was uplifting and ECW-lover Tony Khan paying homage to the Bam Bam/Taz ramp spot with the World Title match was fun.

Only complaint was that theTNT Title is uglier than Cody's neck tattoo.

The show did prove to me that even in these COVID times AEW will pull out all the stops for PPV and earn my patronage.

Apparently it's not finished yet.
