Schirripa and Imperioli have great chemistry, and what Schirripa doesn't have time for is the pretension of Imperioli's tangents, eg straining to make every song lyric of every song that plays in the background of a scene have some relevance to the story. Imperioli does play up some of the outlandish analysis sometimes to wind Schirripa up, but it's clear he buys into it alot of the time too. The problem is, Imperioli fancies himself an intellectual but doesn't understand the show as much as he thinks he does, eg not understanding "Mr. Ruggiero's Neighborhood" at all, describing it as "pipe laying."

I like them both but Imperioli needs Schirripa there to bring him back to earth. He'd climb too far up his own arse and it would be painful to watch without someone bursting his  bubble a bit. They clearly started leaning into those roles over time too. Schirripa is definitely more thoughtful than he pretends to be, not helped by the fact that when he has tried to contribute more serious analysis, he often gets smirked at and shut down by Imperioli. It's definitely not a one sided bully dynamic, it goes both ways.

"Made Women" was considerably worse. Rather than "the pseudo intellectual and the blue collar slob," the dynamic was "the one who was on the show and the one who wasn't." I don't think de Matteo had anything original or interesting to say about the show, and didn't have a co-host who contributed anything, making it a chore to listen to.

It would be embarrassing.

I enjoyed reading this and you are absolutely spot on about TS.

Would you people recommend this Zitti podcast over TS for the discerning Sopranos fan? I'll be honest, the talk of the hosts not getting on so well is putting me off. I've enjoyed the behind the scenes stuff from Michael so far and to be fair to Steve they're still discussing episodes where he wasn't involved yet. But still if another podcast does a good job without any tension between the hosts then I'll flip.

TS is good when they have interesting guests (writers, directors, crew rather than actors usually) and the occasional interesting behind the scenes info from Chrissy or Bobby.

Ziti understands the humour and symbolism way more and is slightly less irritating. It's pretty good.

Funny how No Fuckin Ziti got to the penultimate episode of the series and then stopped.

I hope they release the final episode just before TS does as a fuck you to Schrippa for stealing their idea after appearing on NFZ.

They have 86 episodes up. I know there was a massive hiatus around ep 82 because one or both got married - although i think the lapse was about 18 months. Anyway unless they doubled up on one then 86 is right isn't it? Have to admit I haven't got back into it since they took a break so don't know what is covered.

Personally I prefer it - it's a fan podcast so you don't get any behind the scenes stuff. But they really enjoy what they are doing plus they do very good impressions of the characters making catchphrases from lines as the run goes on. I've made it sound shit but it's sort of how I would want to discuss it with someone.

I think the tension on TS has been over stated too. It's tense in the season 1 episodes but that's alot down to the pandemic hitting right as they planned to start it so the two of them being in a bad mood about various aspects of that, and both being unsure what they're doing, particularly over Skype. It gets alot smoother as it goes on. I don't think there's any real tension between them after those first few at all.

Am caught up with TS and I agree, although I don't think there ever was any, really. Michael has an ultra-dry sense of humour and enjoys trolling Steve with the pretence of having various wacky beliefs. Steve, for his part, will never cease to stop bringing up Michael's supposedly high-handed treatment of him. It's just part of the thing. The guests are the real content and, for the most part, they're great.

One episode was dedicated to the Schrippa interview so the last episode is Blue Comet

I would post that thumbs up emoji if I knew how.

Has anyone ever tried Pajama Pants, with Meadow and Anthony Jr (for those are their actual names now)?

I think there's a bit of Sopranos chat, but mostly it's them and some other bloke pissing about. Looks a laugh from the short videos I've seen. They seem to really enjoy doing it anyway, so that's nice

Something about this picture really made me laugh. It's the chest, isn't it. 70s porn star style

Anyone listened to the podabing podcast?Just started it this week, far more analytical, more akin and a good companion piece to Autopsy
Really enjoying it, and skipped forward to the imperioli interview which was very entertaining.

Just occurred to me that they have gone all meta on not releasing the last episode - so we never know what happens. Or is that obvious.from what I remember of the podcast it doesn't surprise me that they don't want to discuss it and get bogged down in fan theory. I think they were variously disparaging of people analysing it.

It is if course very obvious what happens at the end.
