Kryton posted one of his PiFs in a coronavirus thread. He's got quite a few fantastic scarfolk vibe shorts as well... this one being a particular "nasty"

Any info on the guy?

Dewt

My theory is that he is my long lost brother

This is my favourite one.

Yes, his name is Sean Reynard, you can find a lot of behind-the-curtain interviews with him if you Google his name.

At last, a Smirhes thread! Been meaning to start one for ages but couldn't come up with a good enough way to describe him. He's a brilliant mixture of Scarfolk, folk horror, hauntology, 70's PIFs, Open University creepiness and bizarre unplaceable extraneous terror, which he weathers at all times while appearing to be the happiest person in the world. And it's all composed and performed to perfection by the inimitable Reynard. One of my favourite things on the internet.

Nice to see you've both gone for Comfrey-featuring clips as your favourites.

I'm working through them, a real goldmine and wormhole (worm hat). The mannerisms from his facial tics and British prudishness to the extended little finger are spot on.

This reminds me of my formative foray into absurdist comedy back in the mid-80s, aping my old relatives and their adherence to a certain Prim and Beige British ethic. This is where the horror and joy mix in a heady brew of melancholy and nostalgia.

The only downside is having the post-post-ironic youtube comments bringing everything lurching into hard-edged modern-day perspective. "Fukin trippin' balls dude, like Adult Swim on Drugs, man!"

Kenneth is exceptionally good. These are best enjoyed alone without intrusion from the modern psyche.

The Haunted Whistle was the first one I saw and remains a favourite, but Quentin's Greenhouse is gloriously disturbing. Of the latest batch, Toilet Paper has just had me in hysterics.

Yes, this interview is great - I guess perfectly suited to people of my age

I don't like it. I don't like the way it makes me feel.

Yeah. Not to besmirch this thread but that's why I don't really talk about him.

Yes, but once you find a like minded soul, it can be enjoyable...but that is rare

Reynard is from St Helens (which somehow makes perfect sense), and occasionally appears live as Quentin there:

He looks and sounds a bit like Brooker's mate, the director and physical manifestation of Barry Shitpeas, Al Campbell

Slightly ironically Adult Swim actually used Quentin's video in the opening for one of their more recent Off the Air output titled Trash https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGSUYAKquBU thought I'd seen him somewhere before.
