bgmnts

You know you've witnessed greatness when you are utterly bemused whilst smiling.

Puce Moment

I just wanted to say that I have only just discovered this thanks to you bald cunts.

That biscuit video in Blod's OP is fucking brilliant. It's not easy to do very British surreal weirdness without seeming to be a weaker Python/Vic Reeves knock-off, but he manages.

Thanks guys.

Shit Good Nose

Very late response, but:

The guy who plays the zentai controller, recognise him from something, anyone?

He looks and sounds a bit like Brooker's mate, the director and physical manifestation of Barry Shitpeas, Al Campbell

It's Steve Oram (him most famously from Sightseers).

Mark it, people, and add me to the (very short) list of CaBbers who have corrected buzby on something.

I didn't know who it was - I said it looks a bit like Al Campbell!

So this is just hauntological Mighty Boosh then yes?

Nah just kidding it's pretty good.

Hey Blodwyn, do you like Jan Svankmajer? The bedtime routine video seems steeped in Svankmajer.

Christmas Special is up:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ys_GFiOz8kk

Starts out fairly normal (for QTV) but then Judge Smirhes appears, wow!

Spoiler alert
Mix of Doctor Who, Benny Hill, Crown Court, and The Goodies
[close]

A must see!

Hugl

The Judge sketch is amazing. One of the closest replications of 1970s tv comedy camera work.

BlodwynPig

Another QTV lunchtime from the archives, featuring the infamous 1 O'Clock News 'with' Wilf Bamber... bit unsettling at the end, don't remember that from the original broadcast back in 1974.

bakabaka

For me, he's more like a gentle, slightly twee version of Vivian Stanshall and his videos always ask the question 'What would Viv have done with youtube?' Wonderfully surreal and deliciously disquieting.

For those few, those lucky few, who have yet to discover Mr. Stanshall and the glorious Sir Henry, here's the album version of Sir Henry at Rawlinson End: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CG0hk1L_GDo (the film is less coherent and more of an acquired taste, sadly)
If you like Quentin Smirhes I can't see how you could fail to love it.

Replies From View

I was surprised that this thread hadn't been added to in almost a year, as I remembered Smirhes chat happening more recently than that.

So I checked and it was in this Look Around You thread:

I think the content captures the spirit of Look Around You series 1 better than series 2 does.
