Mine's on its way. I wonder if they'll stretch to a third grant in three months' time.
almost certainly at the rate this shitshow is going here, though they'll prob drop the percentage again

idunnosomename

yo i got my money today, get what you can out of these cunts, before PM Rishi roasts you on the bonfire of the vanities

idunnosomename

QuoteThe online service for the next grant will be available from 14 December 2020. HMRC will provide full details about claiming and applications in guidance on GOV.UK in due course.

And they've managed to sneak out of paying for two months (the four quarterly payments stretch over a 14 month period) aside from reducing the grant to a mere half of the original.

idunnosomename

but up to 80% again today? get in. legend bozza. so much socialism. lovin it

Dr Rock

I thought it was going to be November, but missed where it was only going to be half of the original (which would be 40%) - got a link for that?

And another in the New Year right?

idunnosomename

i heard on the news in parliament it was back up to 80% of earnings for self-employed Nov-Jan. it was going to be 40% but it wasn't opening for applications for at least a week into Nov. anyway. watch this space

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/self-employment-income-support-scheme-grant-extension/self-employment-income-support-scheme-grant-extension

that page seems to contradict itself. looks like we have to wait a month regardless

NoSleep

If I'm understanding correctly, that page is saying that we'll get 80% for November, but for December & January it will be 40%; averaging to 55% for the quarter (53.3% actually, perhaps they're rounding it up).

It was only going to be 20% at one point then it was put back up more recently. I've been keeping up to date with the changes here:

sirhenry

As far as I can see from the HMRC site (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/self-employment-income-support-scheme-grant-extension/self-employment-income-support-scheme-grant-extension) it's now going to be 80% for the entire 6 months from November to April.

QuoteThe extension will last for 6 months, from November 2020 to April 2021. Grants will be paid in 2 lump sum instalments each covering a 3 month period.

The third grant will cover a 3 month period from 1 November 2020 until 31 January 2021. The Government will provide a taxable grant calculated at 80% of 3 months average monthly trading profits, paid out in a single instalment and capped at £7,500 in total. This is an increase from the previously announced amount of 55%.

Of course I could be wrong and/or they may well change any or all of it at any point. Both are equally likely.

NoSleep

That's a relief. That's where it used to say that the 80% was for November only.

idunnosomename

reminder this came out today (at least for me, they stagger the period people can apply). there's a lot more "ARE YOU SURE YOU REALLY NEED THIS, YOU SCROUNGER" than before, but even if I was audited for my few hundred i could easily prove that this pandemic and the shitty response from this wretched government means im massively out of pocket

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/claim-a-grant-through-the-self-employment-income-support-scheme

Dr Rock

Wahey, done mine in five minutes, piles of cash going into my account in the next six days.

NoSleep

Did mine on Tuesday. I noticed the tone on the website has changed from the previous two handouts, to "we are watching you", a la TV Licensing literature (that you get through the post if you don't have one) that treat you as a criminal scrounger first and as an honest claimant second.

NoSleep

Looks like you won't be able to claim the 4th grant (for February-April) until late April as they're going to assess your 20/21 tax return first. And the 5th (and final?) grant will be for May-September (5 months and measured in accordance with how bad 20/21 was for you in comparison to 19/20.

Pinball

And let's not forget IR35 that affects 3-4 million self-employed, even if Rishi did in his speech. Pretty negligent of him, really.

https://www.contractoruk.com/news/0014952budget_2021_chancellors_full_speech.html

NoSleep

Claimed fourth grant. The last three I was told could take up to 6 days, but this one could be up to 10 days; after being made to wait to the very end of the period it is meant to cover.

idunnosomename

Theyve got really thorny language on this one. Like paying tax, you need to at least be able to back yourself up on it. Still having it though. Weds I think im allowed.

NoSleep

They were saying you need emails from customers who were shutting down their business with you because of covid, but that isn't going to happen in my area, where I don't know who is going to call me to work in any given year (even though I have "regular" customers). All I have is a couple of people who were underway with projects that were brought to an end by lack of finances themselves; there will have been others who never had contact with me because they simply didn't get to the stage where I would have even known about their plans. It's unpredictable at the best of times.

They say they need such things if they ask for them, right? I don't reckon they will (but what do I know), but in my case, sales being down is one thing, how can I prove that apart from if they see my books and bank account?

El Unicornio, mang

I haven't had any issues with the previous three, although I think it's because they take one look at my yearly earnings regardless of covid and think "poor bloke, we've got to give him something"
