I won't post a screengrab if my description is enough. There are nine circles, 3x3, some are filled in with colours some are not. I have the same nine circle grid (the first is kind off-centre, mine is symmetrical) and am supposed to fill in some of the circles. What am I supposed to do? Show where there is a line of all the same colour? Tried that, didn't work. I've done it by fluke a couple of times but have no idea wha the method is. Fucking stupid fucking thing.

Just fill in the ones that are filled in, the colours don't matter.

Only time I've seen this one so far is on the site I ordered Adderall from

Sometimes if you spam them and click next really fast you can trick the hive mind.

Just beat your chest and fling some shit against the wall until it lets you in.

I think doing this is when I succeed, but it often doesn't seem to be the right answer. Thanks anyway, I'll use this right now....

first attempt - wrong

second attempt worked. Cheers.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your description, but are you maybe havbing to spot the difference between two images?

I never see this type of captcha any more but this is a montage of 6 impossible captchas I saw some years ago...

Isn't the point with those that you just type the legible bit in? The illegible/convoluted bit is there to trip up bots. (I know it says 'type the two words', but Duff Man says a lot of things.)

The one I did the other day was just "Tick this box".

But surely if they can train a computer to beat Gary Kasparov at chess they can train it to tick a box?

I'm not sure on these, but either there's something else going on (ie. it's monitoring inhuman response times / browser interaction), or it's when the Captcha mechanism has decided it doesn't need to test you on that occasion, and clicking the tick doesn't trigger a grid of famous scrotums for you to correctly identify.

It was normally two fairly legible words, it took a while to collect those weird ones.

With that type of captchas I discovered that if I deliberately got it slightly wrong, like putting an i instead of an l, it usually allowed it,

I REALLY hate the "select all squares containing traffic lights" ones. Am I supposed to include the pole of the light or not?

Anyway, did you know that sometimes when you solve a captcha you're doing classification work for tech giants?

I've been getting waved through most of them since the lockdown started. I'm not sure if this is down to Mr Captcha wanting to do his bit by reducing stress levels or because the AI has now advanced to the point where it already knows you're human.

I'm fine with most vehicles, traffic lights, fire hydrants and zebra crossings but if it's bicycles I'll just keep hitting reload until I get something else. Too insubstantial yer bicycle.

I wonder if when members the royal family are online and encouter one of those 'Click this to prove you're human' ones they just lie and click it anyway?

YES!!!  That bugs the fuck out of me too.  In my experience it's best to leave out the poles.

Yes. :-(

Ironic that we're training AIs to better solve problems designed to weed out AIs.

Oddly the last captcha I did was "beat Garry Kasparov at chess".

I hate that one too, and a similar one where you're supposed to select the cars, but I never know if you can see a tiny bit of the boot of the car if you're supposed to include that too (with experience suggesting the answer is "Sometimes)".

I find a lot of recaptchas don't work correctly.

How many crosswalks (you mean crossings). Four squares show crosswalks. No,you won't accept that answer and show me some pictures. How many trees? Five trees. No, you won't accept that answer and show me some more pictures. How many dogs etc.

Sometimes, I have five goes before I can login to a site.

I wonder how much time per year is wasted by these not working. Also, not everyone knows what a "crosswalk" is.

The trick to defeating these captchas is to attempt to download fewer porns.

Has anyone here seen Kitboga's YouTube channel?  He has a range of characters achieved with voice changing hardware and he uses them to convincingly waste the time of tech support scammers, IRS scammers and so on who would otherwise be using those same hours to ruin real people's lives.  Very funny channel; I can recommend you check him out.  His granny character in particular is brilliant.  Quite lovable and after a while you feel as if she is a real person.

Anyway he has a few captcha things that crop up every now and then, and one of them a while back involved having to pick images of food from some other randomly selected images from a single other theme.  By random chance, that other theme on this occasion happened to be "breakfast".  What normally happens after about 13 clicks is that the initial category ("food") drops out, leaving the second category on its own, allowing the scammer to recognise the captcha is done and move on.  But on this occasion, once all the "food" photos were finished there were endless photos of "breakfast", and for about three solid minutes the scammer was just calmly clicking them all not really sensing anything was up.

I've not explained it very well but anyway, so that was good.
