According to a new report, that's part of it but some of it really is genetic too?

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/may/07/black-people-four-times-more-likely-to-die-from-covid-19-ons-finds

Black people are more likely to have sickle cell anaemia, a genetic disease that affects blood flow, which is why black diabetics are more at risk of complications than white diabetics, because they already have circulation issues. Given that Covid-19 reduces oxygen content in the blood, I could see there being some crossover there.

If you're wondering, sickle cell anaemia protects against malaria, so provides an evolutionary advantage to those growing up in countries affected by the disease - eg. a bunch of African ones, which is why it's more prevalent among black people.

Other ideas for posts: vending machines, sushi, cherry blossom, paedos, groping on trains,

More evidence re ethnicity-linked risk:

Not just Black British people with increased risk in Britain it seems. Note, as ever, that "deprivation" here is ecological - it's an imperfect metric about where you live.

(I would have thought that if it was down to SCA that this would have been picked up on fairly quickly. It's easy to identify if an individual has that.)

The genetic thing's interesting. People in northern climes probably get exposed to more colds and coughs and stuff so may have better immunity. Just a guess though.

On the one hand yes, Japanese people are on average healthier. But they're also on average much older, due to the declining birth rate. 30% of the population is over 60. You'd think they'd be a country of sitting ducks by that metric.

Very healthy population over 60 though.
