Did the same thing for the Toreador. Combination of bunker sales, haulage and headhunter. Also won 200k on the gee-gees.

Although in hindsight, the Kosatka would have been the wiser thing to purchase first.
I'll probably do more of that once I find a crew, get a headset and can talk to people - I've already had a few missions where one rando just runs off and balls up all the work.

I'm getting a bit better at it, too, which is nice. Fully upgraded versions of everything but sports classic and compact, which barely ever get used for races anyway. I went on GTABase and picked the best-ranked ones that weren't comically expensive super-vehicles.

The Cayo Perico heist is the only one that can be done solo. If you spend 2m on the sub, another 1m on the Sparrow and get gud, you basically have an unlimited method of getting about 1.5m in 1 to 2 hours, whenever you need it.

Famous Mortimer

I'm sure I'll get round to those things at some point, or maybe a friendly modder will stroll past me one day and spawn a stream of money on my head.

Famous Mortimer

I'm currently doing a race which just popped up as an invite, called the "AFK Race" - 99 laps, no steering, you can just leave a small paperweight on the W button and go for a wee. Although, it's either a very slight troll or I'm in a bad car, as the tiny ramp at the beginning of every lap will make you crash or turn round or something.

I'm sort of interested to see how much I make from this, and indeed how long it takes - I'm 20 minutes in, and the little progress bar thingie looks like it's less than 10% done.

What's your preferred tactic? For sheer easiness, I can't see past going in via the drains, stealthing it and swimming away like you suggested but it might be nice to mix it up a bit. It also means I'm not getting any secondary loot.

I seem to be experiencing a lot of glitching - last night I couldn't leave the sub in my moonpool vehicles, another time I couldn't get back into the sub with heist equipment. Enjoying this new grind notwithstanding, nearly back at 10mil.

I've done this method exactly a couple of times with friends, it's definitely the easiest. But you can fill your bag with cash or gold at the outhouses dotted around the mansion. You can pick them up as you go around. Or is the secondary loot something else?

Start with the Longfin at the airstrip and fill my bag there, then run/swim down west side of island to compound entrance and kill the three guards there to get the south gate code. Get into the mansion that way, and escape by swimming off the west coast on the way out.

Or the opposite, in through drainage, get the primary loot, swim from the west coast to the airstrip, fill bag, swim to Kosatka. If I don't fill the bag at the airstrip, I might run back to dock area (not the north dock, the other one just south of the airstrip), get some secondary loot there and then escape on a boat.

The airfield is my favourite place to get loot. It's far more spread out than the other locations, a lot more breathing space. And when El Rubio is searching for you, he doesn't really search much of it, just hovers around the main entrance for a minute then leaves.

bgmnts

Redownloading this as well as RDR2 to see how much I can grt out of their online modes, being a single player billy no mates with dial up speed internet. Hope there's a lot of juicy stories and missions.

QDRPHNC

Another one has just occured to me which would be quite easy. Longfin to airstrip, Longfin to drainage tunnel, raid vault, swim to freedom. Hmm. Might give that one a go.

letsgobrian

My preferred tactic now is if I find the guard uniform and hook at west beach or airport I will arrive at that location, use that and plus hack the control tower.

If there's 2 of us we grab gold from the compound (plus paintings if there's not enough gold) then leave by plane.

If I'm going solo, I try to grab cocaine first, then enter the compound.

It takes a little longer but it's low risk and leisurely. Pavel claims they will see through your disguise after you exit the compound, but it does not appear to be the case.

Just tried that, v good tactic I think - took 1.4m solo.

Really? When I first started, I used to prioritize finding the guard uniforms, but once I got told they didn't work on the way back, it seemed like a waste of time. Maybe I need to look into that again.

Rizla

The buggers have patched the little glitch that let you summon a luxury chopper to get you to the comms tower for the preliminary scouting mission. I was enjoying quaffing champers before a pissed up parachute jump. Made up for having to fly that plane the entire length of the map each time.

Having done the heist far too many times this weekend, it looks like after a certain point the disguises stop working around the compound, but are fine on the rest of island.

Have now tried all the approaches, the HALO proved a fast approach, but the extra set up time is a pain. I might use it just when I can't find a convenient disguise near the airport. The helicopter approach feels totally useless. Maybe with a full crew it might be more useful than the HALO drop if you wanted to grab a disguise close to the compound.

Managed to get the Elite challenge reward with the Velum approach (with a disguise on that patio at the airstrip) and exiting from the Main Dock, so that might be my favoured approach if the disguises spawn conveniently.

Famous Mortimer

I finally got a Deluxo, 4.72 million, thanks to a couple of generous modders and lots of races. Oh, and the two RDR2 weapons that give you a large stack of cash for using them. Chrome finish, lovely. Not sure what I'm going to do with it now, other than having an easier time of it on delivery missions, but it's just fun to drive around.

Famous Mortimer

I'm getting a bit more settled into it now. Still not fucked with the heists yet, partly because I don't usually have the uninterrupted time to do it. But I've almost got the cash for a Kosatka so I can get cracking with more fun activities.

I also found a moderately active crew to join, so that's been nice. If anyone else wants to hop on and have some fun, please do.

Anyone else having issues with the game crashing a lot? On PC.
I enjoy this game, but the hellish loading times and the recent crashes are testing my patience, I had a bath once during the loading time, more or less dry and changed when the game started.
I recently read a hacker had discovered a method of shortening the loading times dramatically like reducing by 3/4th of the time and it was due to some of the code reading over itself several times and I think he/she challenged the devs to implement the fix, but no joy so far.

I've just got the sub and the arcade, but can't begin the ruddy heists because of the crashes.
Other than that, this game is an amazingly fun sandbox with tons and tons of shit to do.

I equally enjoy driving through the city at night listening to Phil Collins as much as I do nipping about on my dirt bike and trying to find quicker routes and ways to my key locations. I've not really dabbled much with PVP (besides some races and stunt races which are fun), but some Herbert tried to kill me outside the casino, so I shot him with my silenced rifle and went inside to have a flutter on the nags to hide from the pigs.

Right now, if I'm doing anything important I use the suspend process glitch to get myself into a solo lobby as I can't be arsed with dickheads trying to nab my hard-gained shit.
My unpopular view is that the resupply missions are good fun and much better than expected when people usually quit them. I can see why they quit them (to save time), but they're not bad missions.

Is it true the arcade can be used as a central hub to operate ALL businesses? If so, does it give the option to both buy and steal shit, rather than just steal like the Terrorbyte does?

Famous Mortimer

kryton, feel free to add me as a friend if you like (FamousMortimerr on there).

It seems to crash a lot (like, the game just disappears) when I'm near the end of a race or a resupply mission. I like the resupply ones, it's a fun way to spend 20 minutes if there's no-one in the races or owt like that.

I bought the arcade the other day and I think if you upgrade it you can use it for everything, but I've not messed with it too much yet.

kryton2.0

Cheers FM.
I ran a file verification check which seemed to have helped going from 8 crashes in say 24 hours to (hopefully) 0 crashes as of yet, so I can access the various heists and stuff now. Just been reading about the drain approach and stealthing through the compound, I've had a few bad attempts but did manage to get out the compound. It gets a little easier on every try, but I had to turn it off for a bit.

I'm just wondering what is the best exit point from the island and can I grab any good shit (coke/weed/gold/cash etc) on the way out, as it seems the doors need two keycards inside.

If I find a few free hours in the next few days/weeks, perhaps we could team up and do some heists?

Famous Mortimer

Sounds good. Rich Uncle Skeleton is also on there, but I don't think he's played it for a bit.

Given I'm working from home and some days all I do is attend the team Zoom meeting at 9am, I've got a fair bit of time free to play.

kryton2.0

Just finished my first Cayo Perico run at 16 minutes, with only standard loot, no alarms.
Drain entrance, swam away undetected.

Famous Mortimer

Still haven't done Cayo, I'm nervous about being rubbish at every part of the game other than driving.

Malcy

The person who fixed the loading times has been given £7000 by Rockstar. Apparently it was up to 70% faster which is a huge improvement. I could never understand why it always took so long.

Utter Shit

Is that loading time improved for PS4 or just PC?

Famous Mortimer

I think it's just PC, but it's an enormous improvement (the patch was just done this morning, and load times went from 5+ minutes to about 90 seconds).

Utter Shit

Cheers, thought so.

Oh that reminds me of another question - I uninstalled GTA a while back and haven't played this island add-on thing - as it's a separate world (I think?) and it's so much later in the PS4's life, are the graphics better than the main GTA world?

Famous Mortimer

Maybe a PS4 person will pop along and answer that (but if you want to start a new thing on the PC, you can get it for a tenner in the right sale, and you'll have the "pleasure" of my company).

Yup just PC, with errors reported on Xbox version.

Famous Mortimer

I've found a nice gang of people to play the game with now (although I hope a few more of you decide to reinstall it or whatever, it'd be nice to have some CaB shenanigans). I was in the only actively hiring crew on GTAForums for a bit, but they were called Great Boob Divide and I felt a bit silly as a 45 year old man in a crew with that name.

kryton2.0

I'll jump back on this in a few days FM. Just having a little break from it.
