Any luck, EUM?

Been too busy to have another go yet as I want to try and devote a whole evening to it, might try this Sunday. Also keen to continue the story mode (only about 20% into that)

Holy shit there's an Oppressor Mk II now. Looks like I'll have to cash in some dupes and buy a nightclub, Terrorbyte and new flying jet bike!

The moment they added rocket launchers to it, they went too far IMO - it's one of the few things that really does make online feel unbalanced at times as if you don't have one you really have no defence against it - quicker and more agile than any other vehicle, and with insanely powerful rockets that can kill you instantly.

Good stuff, let me know how you get on.

Does anyone know how to sell cars that are in your garage, or even just get rid of them for nothing? I have a couple of duplicates for some reason, I think I might have picked one then changed my mind about the colour and bought it in another colour without realising I'd already purchased the first one, and it annoys me that my garage is filled with cars I don't want or need.

Take it to the nearest Los Santos Customs where you will be given the option to sell.

I hate those bloody jetbikes etc- I wish there was an option to have normal vehicle only sessions. It's much more fun to chase/be chased by someone in a souped up Ford Escort firing a six gun.

To be fair though, it's 7 years old, there's inevitably gonna be power creep in order to flog microtransactions and keep people interested.

Seperate severe that gave the 'classic' GTA Online experience would be interesting. The whole thing is a nightmare of accretion and probably just needs scrapped at this point.

Does still look and feel great at times though; I took my Tron bike out at nighttime and it was visually quite gorgeous.

Rich Uncle Skeleton

Those fucking rocket bikes. Like Utter Shit says it just makes it unbalanced. As soon as you see them behind you on the radar you know you're going to hear the rocket coming and there's never enough time to jump off your bike or whatever.

Worse when they start say "rekt" and "EZ" every time they kill you. Yeah course its "easy" you bell end you're on a magic win-everything flying bike following someone trying to fuck off somewhere else!

Gets boring very quickly. Most satisfying kill I've had in ages was shooting someone off one of those things with an assault rifle, killing him again when he respawned then seeing the notification that he'd left.

Barry Admin

Just looked up the MKII on YouTube and it actually seems a bit disappointing, surprisingly. The MKI is fun because it takes a fair bit of skill to pilot/drive it well. You have to glide up and down, and risk trying to touch your wheels on rooftops or whatever in order to get your boost charging up again. The MKII just seems a bit more sedate and boring.

I never really played GTA online when it first came out and having just recently played through the story again while it was on the Xbox Game Pass I was keen to explore what online's like now. I got the free version off Epic Games and it runs surprisingly okay on my pc aside from taking 10 minutes to start up. I was amazed at how much new stuff seems to be on it but it's all thrown at you in one go when you first start playing with endless phone calls, notification, emails etc. I don't have much interest in talking to people online through headsets which seems to be the only way to effectively play the cooperative missions but it looks like there's a lot of solo stuff you can do too. I wish they could just merge all that stuff with the offline game so that I can explore all the extra content at my own pace without the tooled up bellends who have been playing it non-stop for a decade turning up and interfering. Maybe this new version they're bringing out will try to do that a bit.

Quote from: Utter ShitAlso, while there is no way of ensuring you get paired with people of a similar level, the game does have a sort of honour system which punishes you for attacking other human players when you're in free mode, and persistent offenders will be put in lobbies with other persistent offenders, while 'good sports' will be put into lobbies together - reducing the chance of you being randomly blown to fuck by someone with an attack helicopter. In my experience what this really amounts to is that the majority of the time people won't deliberately chase you down to try to kill you, but if you cross their paths they probably still will, presumably because they think you might do the same to them.

Just to say, you don't really have to worry about this. There's two things here: the original "good/bad sport" thing, then the "mental state" stuff that was added afterwards.

It takes a good while to be marked as a bad sport, and you can reset it by doing a mission or two anyway. I deliberately went into bad sport lobbies by blowing everyone's cars up back in the day and it took ages. Was mayhem, as expected, in there. You have to wear a dunces hat (cool), and the lobbies were full of hackers and tanks (at that point a tank was the most expensive and powerful thing available.)

I think the mental state is a more localised thing. So if you kill loads of people your player icon will get darker, as a warning to others, and I think they're financially incentivised to kill you.

Meh I never worry about all that, GTA Online has always been the wild west.

Bunty that's what I mean about accretion, it's a shambles in many ways. Still easy to do a solo lobby glitch tho if you don't want to be bothered. Or invite only, although that will limit some of the work you can do.

Bought the nightclub last night, still learning how it works. Seems like more passive income, as with the bunker. I've set my coke lab up again as I believe the nightclub intersects with all your other businesses.

Rich Uncle Skeleton

PC heist some night next week anyone?

Finally running my own and have made 7 or 8 unsuccessful attempts to complete the prison break. Even with skill matching I end up with some horrendous teammates who either get fancy with the plane and crash it or cock up spectacularly in the prison itself

Barry Admin

I'm way behind on all this, but Fleeca Job was always a good heist to grind. Very easy and I think only requires two players.

I'm gonna dig out some tips about investing, if you want to commit to the grind and make some good cash:

Quote from: Fishfinger on July 22, 2017, 04:29:51 PM
I/E can definitely be very lucrative, but it can also be tough to successfully source and sell the cars in populated sessions, where you have a target plastered on your back.

The Buzzard's on sale until Tuesday - $1.3m discounted from $1.75m - so it might be a good idea to pick it up before the I/E vehicle warehouse if you have the money. As a CEO, when you're outside you can spawn it next to you free of charge, and you can also exit your office in it for $500 a pop (no need to climb up to the helipad). It makes quick and relatively easy work of the Sightseer and Headhunter VIP missions (arguably the best ones), which provide around $23k each, and they can be done in invite only sessions too in-between other things.

You'll get shot down often in public sessions, particularly since the Gunrunning update, but the Buzzard's still the best all-round armed chopper for speed, cost and functionality. The Oppressor bike has better survivability, but you'd need millions more to get the bunker, MOC and vehicle bay that are required to properly upgrade it.

First port of call: the mighty Buzzard and CEO! Investing in more expensive properties is always worth it as they're in better places and less busy, so less competition.

Then go to import/export, don't bother with running crates. I/E is fun and lucrative. Do the 10 10 12 trick, this sets up your warehouse so you're only sourcing and selling the high end cars for like 80-100k a time.

Then you want to work towards a bunker for passive income. Buy supplies, stealing them is fun the odd time but generally gets boring and is not time or cost efficient. Same with all businesses.

With the bunker upgraded, if you're solo, wait 2 hours or whatever until the stock is at $150k then sell it to Los Santos for like $210k. If stock goes above $150k then it will usually require multiple delivery vehicles which can't really be done solo.

MC Club is good just for being able to spawn bikes right next to you, including the Oppressor! As for the businesses, I only had coke warehouse and shut it down as it's a bit too much dicking about. However, the nightclub means I've now opened it up again and will be running it from there for more passive income while I play. Seems even more passive than the bunker as the technicians get the supplies for you. Late game stuff tho.

Heists: waste of time with randoms usually. They'll either have no thumbs, or suicide right at the end to fail the mission for badness. Profitable with a team who knows what they're going tho.

Lots more tips in the old thread: https://www.cookdandbombd.co.uk/forums/index.php/topic,61410.0.html

This route outlined above is the best though for sure.

Oh also, Cargobob is great for import/export if you steal or buy one.

Until you can afford a Buzzard then what I would always do in the old days is phone Merryweather for a helicopter pickup and snipe the pilot when he lands, then jack his chopper.

Barry Admin

This is good too, having to relearn and remember this stuff myself, hope it helps:

Quote from: Barry Admin on September 07, 2017, 09:07:10 PM
Just a couple of tips here... if you call in your Buzzard from Pegasus instead of spawning it using the CEO menu, you can then fly it into your hangar. Don't know what upgrades are available, just skins as I recall. You can still spawn the CEO version afterwards, and can do this with other Pegasus vehicles e.g. Cargobob. [Ignore this unless you get a hangar, which I would say is not worth it unless you want to collect, store and upgrade choppers and planes. As a business, it sucks.]

Can't remember if I said this before, but I use the heist trick a lot when I've finished delivering something and want to go back to my offices (which are beside my apartment). Have a heist started, any heist. Go to your phone, accept Lesters invite for the heist, then back out. You'll respawn in your flat and in the same session.

You can now spawn vehicles (including your personal aircraft) from the Vehicles part of the Interaction Menu.

Use the heist trick to get your plane to spawn beside you, or ring for a job then back out. Saves having to travel to the aircraft spawn points, which can be far away, and annoying to get to as you can't also spawn a personal vehicle to get there.

Massive time savers!

A few more money tips.

Nightclubs are the king of passive money making. And you'll want a CEO cargo warehouse even if you don't plan on doing cargo to maximize the profits from the nightclub.

You'll also want at a minimum the coke, cash and meth MC businesses to passively fill the nightclub stock faster.

Then use that money to get a Terrobyte and oppressor MK2.

By switching between the CEO jobs and the Terrobyte jobs you can often grind cash faster than doing whatever that week's bonus payout is. Use an Armoured Kuruma or Buzzard until you can get a MK2. Yes they are used by the worst sort of players, but the speed up in doing work missions is noticeable.

Once you add the drone to the Terrorbyte you definitely can be doing CEO or Terrorbyte work constantly . Don't bother with the turret it's worthless.

The big advantage here is you can do these missions in an invite or crew session unlike the business missions.

You can also do the setups for the casino heist in these conditions, which is probably the best time to money ratio activity you can do right now.

Doomsday Heist is probably worth doing once with friends, the final reward is genuinely useful and there are fun set pieces. But only Act Two is worth doing repeatedly (and most who do are doing it to use an exploit).

Barry Admin

Thanks for the more up-to-date tips, very useful!

Just got the arena workshop seeing as it's on offer, and after quickly testing it out. Seems great fun, it's reminded me how enjoyable a lot of the races and such are, even though I'm the worst driver in the world.

Having a great time back in GTA Online, loads of new contact missions and all sorts to catch up on. Probably get the arcade next, or wait til next week and see what's on offer.

I buy the meth lab and cash businesses last night, so that's all five nightclub technicians working away now. Wasn't sure if I'd actually stick around long enough to recoup the investment, but nah, I really am having a blast.

Utter Shit

Cheers for the tips, I bought the Buzzard yesterday and it's already saving me time on export missions.

How much money do you make passively off all the nightclubs etc?

Barry Admin

Buzzard really is one of the best and most useful vehicles in the game, and a joy to fly!

Bunker makes 150k-175k of stock in just over 2 hours I believe. Then sell that to Los Santos for about 225k, and subtract your supplies at the same time which cost $75k to order. Then you can also start researching MKII weapons so you get eg exploding sniper rounds, but you'll need an MOC or I think an Arena Wars workshop to use them. It's a long grind as research is allocated randomly.

Nightclub, seems slower but less fucking about, nicked this off Google:

QuoteA full nightclub will produce $1,690,000 worth of product but will take 66.6 real life hours so over 2 days of having your console on. to make the money back from buying only the nightclub, upgrades and technicians it would take 197 real life hours. if you have to buy all the businesses aswell it would take 573 hours.

So it's a major end-game investment, but does mean you don't have to do deliveries or order supplies every couple of hours.

With the bunker, you don't have to pay for security upgrades if you're only ever doing solo runs - stock needs to get above a certain level before that happens. I've not bothered with any upgrades at all on meth lab and cash business, as I won't be using them except through the nightclub. It was still a pretty big investment though.

Utter Shit

Christ that sounds like a lot of time and effort! What with the endless admin of Football Manager and maintaining a spreadsheet of my mates' FIFA league, I am genuinely spending more 'work' time on games than my job at the moment.

Barry Admin

Haha I know them feels. It's important to take time to just play instead of grinding.

There is apparently a Peter Griffin mission that can be downloaded and run while you sleep, if that appeals.

Or you can speed up import/export even more by buying or stealing a Cargobob. (Stolen ones do have a habit of despawning though. I was dying to finally buy a Cargobob last night, but I see I've already exported 200 cars in the past without it, and it's a lot more fun and feels less like a chore to drive them, anyway.)

Bunker is great cause you can fuck about playing for 2 hours then just go and buy supplies and do your delivery, and that's it. I'm gonna do more Arena Wars now while my bunker and nightclub work away.

Barry Admin

Ahh, the fun of running bunkers in a full lobby. Went smooth tho, used ghost org just in case. Some guy came after me the other night but I nailed him by lobbing proximity mines out of the window. Then he got on his MKII and wrecked my Phantom Wedge just as I was arriving at the docks. Didn't have time to dashboard, but it was fun times anyway.

Saw a guy doing a run there so decided to bodyguard him in my Akula. Rocked up in stealth mode and hovered above him as he ran supplies back to his bunker, no doubt shitting himself, but I had already messaged to say "want protection?" to indicate I was friendly. Fun! This game is always at its best when you use the sandbox to come up with your own wee games and stuff.

Rich Uncle Skeleton

Finally got a decent team together to get past the prison break heist!! First time I did it as a lowly pleb it was fine no second attempt no bother. Running it as the leader has been a fucking nightmare. People who don't know what the fuck they're doing, people leaving halfway through...

Only managed it today because some guy ran outside to fetch his fucking armoured car and drove it into the prison...

Anyway, my last call for a heist got lost in amongst a small lecture series so any PC players still fancy doing a heist soon let me know!   don't worry last time I'm asking then I'll take the hint ;)

Hah...Sinbad and I tried this with two strangers a while ago. No-one wanted to pilot the plane so I jumped in. Ballsed it up big time......

H-O-W-L

If you want my advice for dealing with MK2's then either use the Chernobog, the MK2 Heavy Sniper with incendiary or explosive rounds, a minigun (the laser one has the same stats) or just fly directly up. They can't match altitude or speed with most air vehicles so they get quite quickly fucked.

Also, use chaff rather than flares.

Oh, also, the Mobile Operations Center cab is almost entirely immune to explosives. It takes several dozens of rockets/grenades to kill it.

Rizla

Had a blast doing some Vespucci Job adversary mode thing last night (3x$ right now), where one person has to get a bunch of checkpoints in a mini whilst being chased by 3 cop cars. Managed to win a very tense match, getting the last checkpoint on the last second of the countdown, gosh my heart was racing I tell you! It's a great laugh if you have some decent competition, I was getting well nifty at leading the fuzz a merry dance like some kind of mini-driving matador.

mobias

Its great people are still playing this and enjoying it. There was a point a little while back where Rockstar were considering winding up adding content into it but since loads of people are still playing it they're going to keep it going. I think its regarded to be a bit like Second Life now with it having a big online social scene within the game world.

Yeah this is great fun, and because of the increased money it's a nice break from grinding vehicle sales. I made about $150k this morning off five games, it only took about twenty minutes.

kngen

So I logged back on for the first time in a couple of years and I've somehow got $1.1m in the bank (from all the giveaways, I'd imagine).

What's the best thing to buy for fun solo missions that earn me some money and aren't a total fucking grind, as I'll be playing an hour max a day?

Barry Admin

Wait and see what's on offer tomorrow.

Utter Shit

There's a new update out in a couple of weeks apparently - beyond the new heist, is this likely to add much enjoyment for people who played it relentlessly for a few months over summer then got bored? I never played online before so this is the first time there's been a big update for me.
