Yeah this looks like it could be a laugh, although I'll probably do as I have done with all the heist updates and buy the business or lab or whatever the fuck thing you need to start it, then never get round to actually finishing it. I managed to get the casino one done with randoms, after about 20 goes, but my bunker, hangar, arcade and MOC are all just gathering dust, missions unfinished.  I've not even done the original Lester heists on my own, the cunt is constantly texting me to finish the set up but no fucker ever seems to want to help.

Normal non-stunt road races are 3x$ at the moment, I've been enjoying doing those in my new Mk2 ford escort. Never get bored of this silly fucking game.

Famous Mortimer

I feel like I'd enjoy the racing aspect, but as with so many things, not having a group of friends in the same time zone / with the same console as me, means I'm unlikely to bother with it.

Uncle TechTip

The update includes a new location so that should be of interest, at least. I'm sure it'll still be 'move thing from there to there' mostly.

evilcommiedictator

RDR2 Online is going cheap at the moment, as it's only the online content, so if you're looking for something similar to GTA Online, but with horses, maybe that will be your thing?

QDRPHNC

I owned GTA forever, but have only been getting into the online part of it properly this last week. Loving the shit out of it.

Rich Uncle Skeleton

Lorrrd, I have not missed the fucking rockstar launcher......

Getting back into this if there's anyone on Xbox that fancies getting me out of heist hell.

Is the coke business fundamentally a waste of time? I read it's more efficient to buy supplies, but having bought 225k I now have about 120 to sell. I thought the entire thing was about cutting it with Persil.

Ferris

Should I bother with this? Have it on PS4 but never entertained the online stuff

I swear if I see the humane labs thing fucked one more time I will scream.

Rizla

Anyone else had a look at this new heist update? Something a bit different this time, in that there's actual new map to explore, not just new interiors. Feels a bit like a cross between RDR2's guarma and uncharted 4. Lots of no-weapons sneaking around so far. Oh, and an actual celebrity, for I believe the first time in gta v, unless you count radio DJs. Quite good I suppose. It's alright. So far.

Is that the one where you had to be stealth? Doing that 3 randos was a nightmare.

I'm doing gunrunning from by bunker. Coats quite a bit to set up, bit it's long term, mostly passive income.

Haven't tried it yet. I assume it's release this close to Cyberpunk 2077 isn't a coincidence. Looking forward to giving it a go.

Famous Mortimer

Are there still a lot of people doing races and stuff like that?

Rich Uncle Skeleton

If you enjoyed being blown up by wankers on oppressors, you are going to love getting constantly blown up remotely from submarines.

Famous Mortimer

Alright, re-install is going on as we speak. If anyone's up for a race, provided I can get one of my controllers to speak to this laptop, I should be up and running this weekend.

bgmnts

Is RDR2 Online any good?

QDRPHNC

I want to like it so much, because the world is incredible and beautiful (St. Denis at night in a rainstorm may the best thing I've ever seen in a game), but it's so slow.

Famous Mortimer

I just started playing Online, and I must have played it at some point in the past, because I'm part of the Cookd and Bombd group (which gives me the excellent team initials "ACAB"). If anyone's up for a game of something, let me know.

QDRPHNC

On XB? How do I join ACAB?

Ferris

If it's PS4 I will try to reinstall GTA and give online a go.

Famous Mortimer

I'm playing it on PC, but I'm certain I never played it on PC before, so I presume it's good for XBox too.

As to how you join, I've got no idea. I don't even remember joining, honestly.

Famous Mortimer

Actually, I think you could possibly add me as a friend in the game, or something. Then I might be able to add you to ACAB. I'm FamousMortimerr on there (damn the other Mr Show fan who got to FamousMortimer before me).

QDRPHNC

Hm, I'll give it a go. Wait, there's no crossplay on GTA.

Famous Mortimer

Bugger. I assumed there'd be XBox / PC crossplay at least.

Anyway, I won my first race last night (when there was a glitch of some sort which caused me to be the only person left).

Its been a while, but i think you have to do it through the Rockstar Social thing on their website.

Famous Mortimer

Having my first experience of street racing being in the snow is a bit of a pisser. I'm no good at it at the best of times.

Famous Mortimer

Won my first actual race where it wasn't just a glitch that caused everyone else to get booted halfway through, which was pretty good fun. But I keep hoping that Los Santos sends the gritting trucks out, because having every street be covered in snow is going to get boring very soon.

I tried a few of the missions, and I think I'm going to wait til someone I know (or a few of you lot) play it again before I do many more of those. Drive for five minutes, get near convoy of cars that need taking out, two of your three teammates suck so bad they get murdered in 30 seconds, mission failed very soon after that. Repeat.

But even just for the stunt racing aspect of it, which doesn't have the icy road issue, I'm glad I installed it.

Famous Mortimer

I've been playing the stunt races, mostly, and winning almost never. Usually somewhere between 6th and 10th in the 16 person races. It took me a disappointingly long time to realise that the reason I was getting beaten so often is that the people at the top had much better cars than me (and are probably all better drivers, but that's by the by).

I wondered if these cars were unlocked at a certain level, and no, you have to buy them. So, the Krieger is currently nearly $3,000,000, and to afford it I could play for about 6 months and save every penny, or drop $50 in real human money on one of those Shark cards. With the cost of those, and the buildings / boats you need for some of the different online missions, they're essentially out of the reach of anyone starting out who doesn't want to pay any more than the cost of the game.

This is probably old news, but I read a few articles and it seems there's a rather crazy inflation problem. Unless a friendly modder wanders past me one day and drops a few mill on my head, there's quite a bit of stuff I'm never going to be able to do.

Rizla

You want a souped-up Vagner for the stunt races, prob still set you back close to $2m mind.

You should be able to grind up a few million in a week or so, if you're playing a couple of hours every night or whatever. Vehicle warehouse is the best for time vs profit, and will sharpen up your driving skills into the bargain.

Uncle TechTip

If you repeatedly do the heists you can earn half a mil or more each time. However they will normally need a partner.
