The way the left come back is by co-opting civic pride and national identity and attaching it to positive things.

Spoiler alert but I doubt that'll work now either. Britain is a a dead empire, a slowly failing state. There is potential for it to become something better at some point in the future but it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better.

I hope you realize that a fair share of the working class will get a bit worried if even the lefties start talking about 'national identity'

If this is not the last thread, I will give someone 200 pounds in cash. Or a cheque for 230.
An Alan Partridge reference I admit, but the last thread lasted 3 months, and there's no chance at this point he can go another 3 months, so I am genuine with this...

We're on page 96 about five weeks. Hoping I'm the first to get in and say I'll take the cheque please, Polymorphia.

Maybe they could make a series of Twitter bots that reply to Glinner with 'right on!' 'Thank you for your courageous stance.' 'This is very funny! You've still got it!' and one or two 'I disagree with you' bots, then shadowban him. He can then spend the rest of his days getting his ego propped up by an automated service and arguing with some respectful robots without this polluting the rest of the world.

This is a beautiful solution.

It's about individual identity and sense of purpose. The working class people you mentioned possessed a distinct identity and community until it was torn up around them and they were left to rot. They are having the vestiges of that stripped from them year after year, hence the fishing around for things to prop it up with - eg. how about bashing the EU, some foreigners trying to tell us how to run our country, why shouldn't we do it ourselves, they never did much for me or my community looking around, they've all got their snouts in the trough, helpfully I can't name a single one of these faceless unelected bureaucrats, etc...

If you can give someone from Wigan, Middlesbrough, Stoke etc some sense that the next government is on a singular mission to revive their surroundings I imagine they will vote for it, as Brexit is pretty much a bitter lashing out at being underrepresented and neglected fuelled by bigotry and poisonous very long running media campaigns.

phantom_power

Yeah I think the key is not so much national identity as a grass roots campaign to show deprived areas that people give a fuck about them and will help them in ways that they actually want, by having conversations with the people there

Newsnight last night is seen as a win for GC:

The report supports that there is a culture of "affirmation" regarding puberty blockers, e.g. approving the treatment after only one meeting.

Bigging up this small-tongued racist cunt again:

Quote from: LinehanDouglas Murray has a great solution to the situation at Hachette with (mainly) under-30s refusing to handle Rowling's book: fire them. There must be plenty who love freedom of speech/Rowling/women who would happily step in to replace them.

Yes. This.

Richard Herring appears to have blocked him now. He didn't explicitly say it Glinner, but it became very apparent who he was talking about if you did a bit of digging around. (Long story short, Herring had tweeted asking for people to send him examples of people mansplaining things to female academics on twitter, someone tagged Glinner in the thread, Glinner couldn't help himself and slagged off Herring, Herring then tweeted something along the lines of "Finally blocked him, feel much better now.")

So that'll be another bridge successfully burnt then.

"All the people standing up for their beliefs, in this case against an influential author seeking to deny minorities their rights? Fire them. If they won't lie down with transphobes, there's plenty who will."

That's entitled, blinkered, mid-life-crisis cunt Graham Linehan, giving us all a glimpse of his rotten soul yet again.

This must be a joke Linehan is playing on the rest of humanity. No-one who does what he does every day could possibly avoid a reflection that this heavily applies to them.

Oh god! She's not going to become an ethot, is she? It'll be an OnlyFans account account next.

lmao "Oh! I thought it was about the one thing I think about! What do you think of the J.K. Rowling thing, anyway?"

That's like the time Jon Ronson was talking about the sad state of that Superhero man he knew and Glinner assumed he was talking about him

I had a dream about Glinner last night. I'm not joking. I dreamt I visited him in his strange new house and he was really friendly and we got on well, and the whole time I kept thinking about his insane Twitter campaign and wanting to bring it up, but I didn't have the courage.

That's the end of my post about my dream. Thanks.

damien

Interesting that when he just comes straight out and asks an open question to everyone, the replies and interactions are miniscule. More than half a million followers and he gets six replies over three hours to a question you'd think thousands could answer. It's like no-one is actually listening to him anymore, even his allies seem worn out.

I had a dream that I went on holiday to Toulouse with my brothers partner who became entangled with a crow. My mum was in a shop over the road buying an oven that was actually a giant FM radio, and I left my son in a giant bar which was sort of like a road-going boat and trundled along after us.

It seemed much more reasonable at the time. I see now I am completely mad. Thanks.

Because of that sort of lack of activity on posts like that, I do sometimes wonder if there's super-secret, online pillow fort GC groups forming "ignore Glinner as much as possible" resolutions. Christ, I'm so fixated on him that I've become vicariously paranoid.

If the Gibbons brothers or Coogan are reading, these gems (and more) are available for purchase.

I've been having increasingly bizarre dreams during lockdown, so it's (potentially) a real good mine!

Damn, Richard Herring seemed like he was once a good irl friend of Glinner and Helen, even when Glinner was fully committed to hatred, he tried to see the good in him. But, I suppose Jon Ronson also was once a friend of Glinner. Imagine if I kept asking my friends for their opinion on Dianne Abbott, despite them being uninterested, until they actually stopped being my friend and blocked me on social media.

He's a martyr in his mind. I realise that eventually I've got to look out for number 1 - i.e. me - and that making the world a better place has to stop when it makes it a worse place for me and my family. Glinner is happy to sacrifice this all for the pressing issue of getting trans people out of toilets and restricting the healthcare options available for people with gender dysphoria.

If only I had had the foresight to tell my parents when I wanted a Barbie doll like my sister had, I could have saved myself an awful lot of bother.

Growing up in the 1980's I played with a lot of "boy's toys" and non-gendered toys and wore unisex clothes because these things weren't so gendered back then. All this pink and blue colour-coding is a relatively new marketing trick designed to make parents spend twice as much money. And yet you don't see a spike in referalls to gender specialists in people of my age and older... No point in trying to reason with TERFs and their stubborn brand of LOGIC and REASON and SCIENCE though is there?

Obsessive about protecting women and children, yes.

I read that line in Partridge's voice.

Puce Moment

He doesn't even register or acknowledge that he keeps inserting his bullshit where it doesn't belong in completely the wrong context. No apology or little self-depreciating comment. Just arm-folding bluster. Also, his obsession with celebrity is something that explains his sense of entitlement - I think he really does think his voice is important.
