I've only just started exploring it myself, but thought this channel I've just been alerted to the existence of might be of interest to quite a few here. Ongoing reviews of episodes, as well as dedicated videos examining Peep Show oddities and mysteries like 'when did Mark and Jez move in together' and 'Jamie and Barney were clearly originally meant to be the same character, right?'.

thanks

reminds me of this Simpsons channel:

Yeah I love The Real Jims, esp his analysis of supporting characters, and this Peep Show channel is likely modelled after it.

I would much rather watch both if they could use real clips.

Another analysis channel, "Wow Lynch Wow!" (essential fan commentary on both Twin Peaks The Return and Better Call Saul (and GOT if you're into that)) uses real clips and doesn't get into any trouble

Real Jims only uses still images but AFAICS the Peep Show channel uses unadulterated genuine Peep Show clips?

Why do all English YouTube 'critique' blokes have the same bored sounding voice?

It's like those Canadian 'Tubers all sounding like Kermit.

His Toni's Party Invitation 'mystery' video is kinda strange. He seems unable to contemplate the glaringly obvious in universe possibilty that Toni just used a commercial available lenticular image of a woman and seems convinced that image must have been intended to be some alternate version of Toni. Fortunately someone put him right 4 days ago in the comments.

'Emily Bastian 4 days ago 'The invitation is made from a vintage lenticular postcard. If you Google 'lenticular postcard wink' you can find a photo of the exact same one they used.'

oh. I clicked on a random one and it was pictures only.

neveragain

There's a video about Outnumbered on there which irritated me greatly, specifically it's about an episode in which the youngest son is drooling over a babysitter, and it's just an incredibly humourless response. Naming things which are obviously jokes, saying 'this is played straight' implying it isn't a joke, and seeming offended by jokes which are clearly on the family, not the babysitter.

This channel seems stupid when you realise Peep Show is clearly just driven by what they feel at the time of writing

Oh yeah? Well I found it interesting despite the 'nerdy' caveat I flagged up in the thread title! That's the new last post on this thread, overriding the preceding three zingers! How'd ya like them apples folks?

Fraid not, sorry. This is my Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWlBnszJrJhwWCAHEh6YgmQ
And this is my bands: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMKIvrGZA8lJA63buaoRi1w

And indeed, people can have as many Youtube channels as they like, but on  casual submersion into either of the above links in this post  it should become pretty obvious why me and Andrew could never be the same.

I have a long and storied history (going back to 2005 under my previous name ajsmith) of shameless, open and irritating self promotion on this board so I am insulted that you think I'd try some kind of craven 'hey look at this fellas, interesting eh?' sleight of hand technique to promote my own wares rather than coming right out with it bold as brass!

I can assure you this isn't that. I'm not even online friends with the guy, I just got sent the link by a friend the other day. And yeah it's incredibly anal and the guy wanders up some weird otherthinking paths, but I find it an entertaining diversion as a PS fan and given the premise and content of this forum I was a bit dismayed to see one liners about it being geeky and stupid being posted in response like I'd stuck the link of a high school intranet page in 1999. It's overall stupidlty and nerdiness in the grand scheme of things  is kind of a given really given the modus operandi of this forum. It's one thing if people think it's shite cos it's poorly argued or whatever,  but they seemed odd reasons to bat it away considering where we are. There have been untold  in depth threads about Peep Show minituea on here over the years so I thought it might at least provoke a bit of conversation.

For instance, ok it amounts to a paraphrase of info that apparently was already in a script book, but this video about a lost series 3 episode was all new to me and made an engaging 15 minutes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G13dUrbXVf4

anyone with a passing knowledge of NME rock of the 00s would know Joe Lean aka Jamie was busy in his band The Jing Jang Jong as well as drumming for the Pipettes to do the lucrative walk on role to suck Hans' cock.

My response wasn't aimed at you, of course, it was aimed at the video creator. There is no meaning behind it other than someone went to the prop department and picked out the first things they could find that a character like Toni might put on a party invitation.

Sorry for my misapprehension, and sorry to everyone  for my salty reaction in general to how this thread has gone down.I  personally found the indepthness of the channel fascinating  despite also realising much of it is making something out of not much. Still I have a weakness for this kind of analysis: although as Dewt mentions, everyone knows the truth is that inconsistencies happen because the show is made up as they go along, it is fun to take what we're presented in this fictional world we're invested in to some degree and do detective work on it to see how much it does (or doesn't) all line up. The party invite video was a bridge too far for me though: he's inventing an issue that doesn't actually exist there.

good detective work: he pieces together a lost US remake pilot from various actors' showreels

I kinda went off this channel after he said S4 E2 was the greatest Peep Show ever. :(

Bazooka

By chance I watched his video on David Brent Life on The Roads the other day, it got recommended to me.

Noodle Lizard

This is absolutely one of you.

I quite like it though, it's pretty competent for something like this. I thought I knew the show back-to-front, but he points out or theorises about some things I'd never have considered.

That's the Kettering conference one, for those who can't remember. I'm going to have to hear his take on that, since it's always struck me as being one of the first big "uh-oh" episodes, setting the hypernonsensical tone for what would become the norm by the show's fallow years. The Johnson/Big Suze plot is dreadful (except for her chipper "We eat breakfast off each other!" delivery), and that whole ending sequence with Mark is cringey to watch, but not in the way they intended.

Not that it doesn't have some good moments, mind you (and I generally like things being set in hotels for some reason), but it's very surprising to hear that it's anyone's favourite episode - especially someone who's given the show so much consideration.

Yeah same. Enjoyed it obviously.

I do like this channel. Was thinking the other day, why isn't there a Youtube channel that dives into Alan Partridge? Such a longstanding characters, has appeared in different mediums and his a whole backstory and weaves in with real life celebrities, telly and all that. There isn't really another comedy character that detailed I think.

Not a YouTube channel, but there is the Monkey Tennis podcast which is pretty exhaustive: https://play.acast.com/s/monkeytennis
