Oh, the Guardian TERFs are having a twitter meltdown because Owen Jones said maybe it's a bad idea for cleaners to go into their houses. If they have to clean their own houses instead of getting a woman to do it for very low wages, they won't be able to get on with their feminism or something.

Their argument being that they don't have time to clean their house because they're looking after their husband and teenage children. Maybe tell them to fucking do it then.

YOU CAN'T EXPECT HUBBY TO CLEAN he'll never get an erection again!!!

oh god it makes so much sense that these TERFs are rich wine moms. They have no other fucking problems, not even housework because they pay a poor to do that for them. Sexism is solved, it's the transes who are the real problem now.

Today in the discourse of the hardest-hit nation in Europe: an argument about why an average-sized family cannot possibly go without a hired cleaner to pick up after them.

These people are so far removed. They're not even in orbit. Lost in space. Scrap journalism and start again.

Brooke Magnanti ('Belle de Jour') has it:

Here's another one! https://twitter.com/jrc1921/status/1260564090264719362

And of course they're all SWERFs (Sex Worker Exclusionary Radical Feminists) too. Pissed off that hubby spends his fun money on escorts. No wonder black women had to invent womanism to get away from this privileged white nonsense.

Makes cleaners feel useful and normal! Fucking hell.

Then this.

I don't know what she's talking about with the Woke Bros and cock thing, but a working mother hiring someone to clean her house? That "someone" couldn't be a mother too then? They're obviously working, as they are cleaning your house for money. But it's not real work, work the lower orders do, is it?

Remember when we thought this crisis might result in people who Patel calls "low skilled" being be valued more?

Our flat is in a building with two other flats, so the entry corridor and two flights of stairs are a communal area. About 2 weeks ago we heard some banging and what sounded like a vacuum cleaner outside our door so I took a look out and sure enough there was a woman who doesn't live here vacuuming the stairs. She finished about 20 minutes later, then took the vacuum to her car outside and left.
A woman who lives in one the other flats usually cleans the communal area for a few quid off the rent, but sheand her husband and kid went away somewhere just before the lockdown started (presumably to stay with family) and haven't been back since. So in her absence it looks as if the letting agents (whose office has been closed since day one btw) have arranged for a cleaner to come in a hoover a tiny bit of corridor and stairs that we're quite capable of doing ourselves. On the one hand it's keeping someone in work and maybe the thinking is it's important to keep shared areas clean at the moment, but on the other imo bigger hand is it worth her risking her health and safety to do something which is so far from essential work it's ridiculous? I don't know whether or not to take it up with the letting agents and probably won't but I wish they'd just asked us or the other flat to do it instead. (Although the other flat occupants moved out yesterday in what may have been a moonlight flit so at the moment it's technically not a shared area right now.)

Ditum's grifted a column about it in the fucking Spectator. These people!

Campaign to get Owen Jones to tweet 'Actually, breathing oxygen is good' starts now.

I think mine's been done regularly as well. I've heard them hoovering. But in Scotland it's part of the factors fees. As someone who's renting (as are quite a few others I think) it's not something we really have a dealing with outside getting an aggy letter every now and then about people dumping shite in the carpark. I think on paper might be an operational duty on the factors to ensure the place is sanitary and not putting the residents at risk, although they're perfectly able to ignore other duties so I doubt that's it.

I don't think people should be coming out really. The hoovering can wait. I have found myself instinctively grabbing the bannisters then wishing I hadn't though.

The blue tick meltdown over Owen Jones' perfectly reasonable tweet has been something to behold. In her Spectator column, Ditum had the audacity of claiming she'd been "dragged into" the whole thing, in much the same way one gets "dragged into" doing laundry by way of purposefully doing a shit on a pillowcase. "I'm tired of being dragged into these confrontations with windmills", says beleaguered Spanish Knight.

dissolute ocelot

If the middle-classes lose their embarrassment about hiring a cleaner then we as a civilisation are doomed. What happened to doing the cleaning before the cleaner comes round? Isn't that what people do?

king_tubby

Blackface unfunny funnyman (trolls not the dolls, lol) David Baddiel has weighed in to the cleaner discourse.

Only wankers write for the Spectator, it is physically impossible to write a Spectator column and not be a wanker.
