QuotePareidolia (/pærɪˈdoʊliə/ parr-i-DOH-lee-ə) is the tendency for incorrect perception of a stimulus as an object, pattern or meaning known to the observer, such as seeing shapes in clouds, seeing faces in inanimate objects or abstract patterns, or hearing hidden messages in music.

Anyone else see the topless screaming person in this?

BlodwynPig

Cerys

Thanks for spotting the typo.  Duly amended.

To add emphasis -

BlodwynPig

toothless...

unibreasted cyclops

Cerys

Yes, you're right - it is a cyclops.  An Amazonian cyclops.  Can't believe I didn't spot that.

Anyone else see a face in this?

Cerys

My god it's full of Brucie....

steve98

I can't see a toothless/topless cyclops; not at all. Huge disappointment Cerys when you drew in the red silhouette line and still nothing.

A wee while ago someone dumped a stained mattress outside my gaff, and, clear as a bell, you could see Diana in the stain; she was in silhouette and wearing an Easter bonnet. Others noticed it too so I'm not making it up. I was hoping that another mattress with a brown, Dodi stain might appear, but nah.

Sebastian Cobb

Not even in my top 3 Art of Noise tracks, sorry.

And after I gave you a T-Rex, too.  Sniffle.

steve98

You did. You did well with that. But this Cyclops thing? Mmmm.

(Yes, I saw the screaming man instantly, high five)

DiClassomo

Yes, but I see a topless screaming person in nearly everything

Sebastian Cobb

Well if you will fill your flat with mirrors...

Hey Cerys

Do I remember correctly that you experience synesthesia? Do you think that makes it more likely to experience pareidolia also?

Cerys

I don't experience synaesthesia beyond associating certain days with certain colours, but I see images in pretty much anything - so I don't think the two are connected for me.  If anyone else who experiences more obvious synaesthesia wants to weigh in here, though, I'd love to see what they have to say.  The idea is intriguing.

Your brain is weird if you see a singer in that first image. Amazing, but weird.

Pareidolia is a lovely word, innit?

I 'd get a refund on that Hungarian Phrase Book, if I were you.

I can't see any pictures at all.

I've looked it up and this means that my own personal colour is beige.

Fuck it, I used to be fucking red.  RED!!!

weekender

It's either that or someone else fucked up the image posting in the past few minutes.
