Will Ferrell's not funny.

would it not be a more alienating opinion to say you do find Will Ferrell funny. at least on CAB

Clownbaby

Year of The Rabbit got me thinking of Jojo Rabbit which I saw with some mates in a completely empty screen and we all were very surprised to see how many glowing reviews it got, as we nearly left for Wetherspoons halfway through

The bit with Stephen Merchant and the other guys repeatedly taking turns to say "Heil Hitler" had me cringing. It went on far too long and wasn't bloody funny the first time. The whole tone of the film felt so off to me. I really didn't like it

Alberon

Never could get on with House of Fools. I'm a big Vic and Bob fan but I just couldn't get on with it. I get that they're being deliberately ramshackle, but it always felt like it just ended up in pieces on the floor.

I enjoyed Green Wing, a sketch show disguised as a sitcom but some really enjoyable performances and jokes there.

Miranda. Yeah, I liked it. Even went to the taping of one episode. Simple, silly fun.

Monty Python. It's hard to judge as it is so well known. Even when it was going out there were bits that were unfunny and didn't work, but for a sketch show fifty years old it still holds together really well.

Cuellar

This is rapidly becoming obvious comedy opinions: Will Ferrell isn't funny? Of course he isn't fucking funny.

Here, try this. I've always liked Alan Carr.

Same. I like Chatty Man. It's more fun that Graham Norton Show is now because Alan Carr doesn't just keep inviting the same reliable coven of luvvies on every other episode

It appears that saying you like Eddie Izzard is actually the alienating opinion, particularly on CaB which I'd say has never shown much appreciation for him. So...yeah. I like Eddie Izzard, have all his videos and have seen him live thrice. I'm a fan, in an unashamed way.

Alienating opinions...hmmmm. i reckon if you knew Ricky Gervais on a personal level you might see that he's a different person in normal life as opposed to the bellend he portrays on TV, radio, podcast, youtube, magazines and films. I can't say for sure but...

madhair60

I find Will Ferrell funny in some of his stuff

I liked Allen Gregory

I like Family Guy

I think Rick and Morty is fucking great

Liked Miranda

Liked Ghostbusters 2016

Think Bo in the USA is hilarious

Agree wholeheartey. That Daniel Simonsen character was an embarrassment. And why do they keep putting money in Dan Renton Skinner's pocket? The guy's a talent vacuum.

I've said it before but I'm pro Mighty Boosh, Garth Marengi and Nathan Barley. Even quite enjoy some of series 3 of the Mighty Boosh. Compare the Boosh to Luxury Comedy and it starts to look like Peter Cook.

Yes, I've always found that a bit odd too. He's a big name, he's well-regarded and critically acclaimed, but he's not too popular on here and I'm really not sure why that is.

I saw him do stand-up once and I thought he was pretty good. I also thought he was good on Drag Race UK and I enjoyed his voice overs on the problematic guilty pleasure that is Playing It Straight.

Disappointed to see no love for Mrs Brown's Boys. Not because I like it because I don't. Just that on average there should be some fans of it on CaB, it gets millions of viewers and is very popular.

National socialism was very popular in the 30's in Germany and Mrs brown's boys attracts the same hive mind.

On general level something I find really puzzling is some people's insistence that every camp man is hilariously funny. That you just have to have an effeminate voice and a few double entendres and you're a comedy genius.

Having said that, Julian Clary can be brilliant and I know he's more a presenter than a comedian but I find Rylan quite funny and engaging. I found him incredibly irritating at first but he's grown on me. I don't mind Alan Carr but I can't stand Graham Norton. His act anyway. I've heard he's a lovely bloke in real life.

I can see why people like it and I've watched the occasional episode. It's not devoid of mirth is the best I can say of it.

I think the problem with Alan Carr is the voice, you need to get past that obstacle to see if his material is any good and it's just beyond some people. Also there was a time 5 or 10 years ago where he was everywhere.

Channel 4 have a terrible habit of signing a contract with a star and then pushing them too hard so they appear on half the Channel 4 schedule to the point that even if you liked them you are now sick of them. Jimmy Carr, Davina McCall, Carol Vorderman...we've paid for them, let's cram them into everything we can whether they suit it or not.

The best thing about Mrs Brown's Boys is that it's hated by people who like (or pretend to like) 'sophisticated' comedy like Woody Allen and Frasier. Smug comedy more like.

For that reason alone I'm team Mrs Brown. And I've watched a few episodes and laughed out loud several times, which I never have at Allen or Frasier.

I don't like it by any means but it doesn't piss me off like it seems to a lot of people. It's just one of those things that is so not for me in every way that I can't even muster up any bad feeling about it. Like Hollyoaks or kid's Youtubers. Not even on my radar. Plus when I've seen Mrs Brown appear on charity shite or talk shows in character I've actually found it stupidly funny.

I like Rylan as well. I think he gets a bad rap but he seems like actually quite an introverted and gently witty person when he feels like it. Its not immediately obvious though. The ridiculous clip of him crying on X Factor put me off for ages but he seems alright and self aware enough to not be lumped into the some of the cringier Essex peacocks. He also didn't embarrass himself on Big Brother by being a massive cunt so that was a good sign.

I think he used his lack of singing talent as a very clever  PR move. Completely traversed the need for media training by being in the public consciousness. He trolled us.

Inside No. 9 is staggeringly shit. It doesn't even belong in comedy chat because it's never funny.
Crap insistence on putting a shit twist in almost every episode
One or two good ones out of the whole lot and fucking hell the serious ones, like the one about the drug addict son in the last series, are Legz Akimbo level dross.
Half an hour of Reece in a wig arguing about whether the triangles in trivial pursuits are cheese or pie would be a better drama.

There's such a massive gulf in quality between everything else they've ever done and this. Why on earth does it keep getting new series?

He has a radio show on Radio Two on Saturdays which I discovered because I usually listen to Pick Of The Pops beforehand (look, I'm old) and although my default station is Six Music, it's Giles Peterson's yawnfest on then. But he also used to present the late night Big Brother show, which I never watched except when I was visiting my sister, who was one of the few people who watched the thing to the very end. I remember turning to my sis in amazement and going: "He's quite good at this, isn't he?"

My only beef with him is that he's a natural ginge but dyes all his (visible) hair dark. Yes, I know what it feels like wishing you could just blend in, but if he 'came out' it could possibly stop some kids being bullied.

Kevin James is an excellent stand-up and the first Paul Blart movie is quite funny.

I still watch Family Guy even though I know it's garbage and I don't really understand why I keep watching it.

I've not seen an episode in ages.  When I'm looking through the programme guide and I see it's on I'll read the description and it's ALWAYS one I've already seen, and always one from a very small repertoire,  Do they only show a few dozen episodes on constant rotation, because it seems like it.

Nathan Barley...  I happened on one episode being repeated last year.  It wasn't as bad as the amount of vitriol it gets here suggests it would be.  I probably enjoyed it more than the first time I saw it, it's probably more relevant today then when it was made.

I like all of Monty Python except Holy Grail.  I didn't see it for a long time and perhaps hearing people quote the same lines from it ad nauseam ruined it for me, so when I finally got to see it I found it tedious.  Chuck that one in the bin please.

The League of Gentlemen isn't funny. It's clever, and dark, and well made, but doesn't make me laugh at all.

Yeah I agree with that.  When it was repeated last year I watched the first 3 then stopped making the effort and didn't bother watching any more.  I found the whole thing creepy, which of course was exactly what they were going for, but not really what I want from a comedy show.

I'm really bored with The Two Ronnies & Morecambe And Wise.  I'm not saying they're not good, but I've seen them so many times I'll watch absolutely anything else rather than see another minute of them.

I think he would either be really needy and tedious or like he is on Twitter. Arguably they are the same thing but in person he would be pathetically needy rather than aggressively needy.

I don't care for Dave Allen. Admittedly I may have been too young to appreciate him and so never sought out more later in life. I do really hate the cricket "when you're out you're in etc" thing but then I hate that sort of rapid fire contradictory word play anyway.

Can we start a thread that just reads "Rylan Clarke isn't that bad" I myself am finding reasons to hate him but I honestly cant, as mentioned above he does have an element of wit and seems amiable when talking to people. I agree with the dye job though, embrace thine ginge love.

Channel 4 buy in all their programming from third parties so I'm not sure they can own presenters like that. They might be able to excersise choice on who fronts it, but I imagine it's more likely that they're reusing the same production companies who have made these deals or even manage these people directly. Indeed, Carr is all over anything made by Avalon like a pissing puppy and it's not just ch4 either.

To be fair to League of Gentlemen I have a vague memory of them being interviewed and when asked about influences they leaned towards horror films like Don't Look Now. And even if a character like Geoff isn't side splittingly hilarious he's still very amusing and brilliantly portrayed.

Fr.Bigley

Geoff is a lot of frustrated men from the north with delusions of grandeur and a hatred of his bit. I lived where Reece grew up for a bit and I can honestly attest that aside from the the hardware shop "a local shop for local people", the local pub, the avenues were chock full of Geoff's. You have unlimited material in a place of desperation, vasey is a culmination of all four lads and their locale.

EOLAN

Carrott Top deserved his comedy award ahead of  Bill Hicks.
