Oh fuck off I actually couldn't get to the end of that with that song playing in the background, this whole stinking thing is Trump screaming I WON THE ELECTION in the form of a shit superhero film that no normal person wants

Is that trailer in 4:3 or is it just my browser?

Yep, guessing it's a square cut optimised for mobile viewing.

Same. I couldn't finish the trailer. It is mental that this has happened. The polishing of a turd redefined.

The whole film is going to be in that ratio. Fuck knows why.

magval

Black and white AND 4:3?

Because Bait and The Lighthouse were good?

This won't make your action figure film good Zach.

Fuck knows why indeed. Big widescreen spectacle is basically the only thing his films can reliably offer. Many shots in the trailer just don't work visually now. Odd.

Custard

Dunno what you lot are on about, this is very serious stuff. You wait for the looks of anguish and conflict on Superman's face when he boots Alfred's head to the moon

I can't wait for this. It's already made 2021 a must-live year

Quote from: Kelvin on November 17, 2020, 09:43:34 PMI was only joking. Just meant that Snyder is known for being pretentious. Things like the first promo shot of Batman in BvS were black and white. Im sure doing a black and white trailer was either his idea, or something he approved of.

Ah right. As Spiteface mentions there apparently the whole thing is going to be in B&W, reckon Snyder wants to differentiate it from the theatrical Whedon version as much as poss.

Ugh, I had an alert on my phone from IMDb saying "watch this new trailer". It's astonishing how something can be so hateable within the first 0.5 seconds, and get even more hateable as the seconds pass (very slowly, like even for slow motion it's slow). It feels like it should be an advert for a compact crossover SUV where the father is trying to show his daughter how cool and with it he is by slamming his head into the ground in slow motion black and white "look dear can I drive you to school now I am tortured?"

Probably still watch it though.

Famous Mortimer

I don't necessarily hate Snyder, or even his style. He's not always terrible, and there's even a place for doomy superhero movies. But...kowtowing to the worst people on the internet is a bad idea. This is a bad idea.

Jerzy Bondov

Hahaha it's really going to be in 4:3 and black and white?! Fucking hell.

Haha, don't be daft.

...

Surely not?

Mister Six

Is it just because they couldn't afford to do all the rendering in colour and widescreen? Or is he going to pretend HBO made him do this and then spin out a "release the colour cut" campaign for another couple of years?

Thomas

It's so he can point to Superman at random times and say 'he's actually wearing the black suit in this scene'.

The CGI in all clips I've seen of this film, in its many troubled incarnations, is fucking horrible. Shiny, weightless PS2 cutscene stuff. Perhaps the black-and-white will go some way to mask that. I've not seen the film in full, but you'd do anything to hide that dreadful red sky effect in the previous version. Looked like a placeholder effect in an unaired Smallville pilot.

Dr Rock

it will be in colour, but Snyder is trying to get a theatrical release for a black and white version too. So it's more like Wings Of Desire.

Or Schindler's List

But more powerful and haunting

Superman's cape the only colour thing in the film.

Makes you think aahhhh.

Custard

Cor, that's got Oscar written all over it. One man, all alone in this world. This black n white world of chaos

Bad Ambassador

One problem is that the trailer doesn't seem to have been colour-corrected much, so there's very little contrast between the different shades of grey. It just looks dull and flat. You can fill in your own punchline.

An tSaoi

It doesn't matter what colour they make it, it's still a superhero film made by an Ayn Rand fan.

Shout out to Ray Fisher, who played Cyborg in Justice League, for refusing to be bullied by Hollywood, even at the likely cost of his career. After making complaints about abuse while working under Joss Whedon, Warner's commissioned a hitpiece to discredit him, but he persisted with the case and has finally seen repercussions for Whedon. Now, the same journalist that wrote the previous piece has written another inaccurate article, and he's hit back again.

Custard

Yeah, kudos to him for not giving up. He's the only one who comes out of it all looking like a decent person

amputeeporn

While he seems to be in the right there does seem to be a self-destructive element to his campaign. It's very difficult to imagine him ever really working again, particularly as this was his big break and he didn't have a body of work beforehand. In his shoes I'd have sucked it up and probably grown a hate tumour, so who's to say what the right response is.

Phil_A

I really want to know what the hell went on during the production of Justice League. How did Stevens go from publicly thanking Whedon to being willing to throw his entire career away by accusing him? I guess no-one's willing to talk about it due to NDAs or whatever but it definitely feels like we haven't had the whole story yet. Not that I'm doubting Whedon is a scumbag or anything, his rep's pretty much fallen through the floor the last few years.

'Zack Snyder's Justice League' Sets March Premiere Date on HBO Max.

QuoteHBO announced the official release date of the Warner Bros. Pictures and DC full-length Max Original "feature film," further confirming that the release will be as a movie, and not as a miniseries as it had originally been billed.

I can't imagine it'll be four hours long, but it'll probably push three.

amputeeporn

Despite not making it through the original, I am actually tempted to watch this thing - if only to see the smouldering car fire that Snyder fans have wasted their lives campaigning for.

Claude the Racecar Driving Rockstar Super Sleuth

The Roofdog

It'll be slightly better than the theatrical release, that's the annoying thing.

Custard

It's gonna be great. Bats killing everyone, Supes in a black suit with a tash, Aquaman doing more drunken swimming, Wonder Woman stopping mid-fight to break the fourth wall and sing us a bit of We Are The World, a Martian Manhunter hastily knocked together with CGI, and masses and masses of murder in absolute darkness

You guys are soooooo uncool sometimes, gahhhd
