Decent m4a to mp3 converter that isn't iTunes

Mornin all

I need to convert some voice recorder messages from m4a to mp3 format, and iTunes is just such a cunt to work with. Can anybody recommend a decent (free) alternative?

Cheers - looks like I had the ability (I have Audacity and FooBar) but not the requisite decoders.
