In other news, China's legislature has introduced laws which seem to amount to a de facto takeover/occupation of Hong Kong:

I'm not confident this will end well.

Surprised it took 23 years, to be honest.

Y'know, I know the scriptures say "judge not lest ye be judged", but I'm just going to come right out and say it. This 'China' guy... this guy's a real jerk!

Nothing original to say that Trump is itching for a fight with the PRC in an election year notwithstanding everything else.  What concerns me, even if he loses in November, don't forget he still has a couple of months to make a messy situation even worse.

I think a battle (hopefully not a military one) between the US and China is inevitable. One is a waning power and one is a growing one. There is going to be conflict as the US tries to restrict China for as long as possible. The first gambit of getting China to adopt capitalism has failed as the regime has absorbed it and it hasn't magically brought political freedom as the West expected.

It's not Trump driving this. Why would he care? He generally loves strong leaders anyway. Not that the US are the good guys but the Chinese government are an evil shower of cunts.

Yanks just considered Hong Kong no longer autonomous. Withdrawing trade and relations and all that shit.
