Love Sweet. Some of the very best dumb-genius pop singles of the era.

RIP Steve

Brilliant pop personality from a brilliant band! R.I.P.

Behold, their weather-beaten gnarled faces here. Barely 40.

Very similar riff to Jean Genie, which I think was in the charts around the same time. Same orange RCA label for the single as well.

The B-side, co-written by Steve Priest, was pretty good too. More Deep Purple than glam. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pcXj_fzp-s

QuoteNicky Chinn has said that all the writers, including Bowie, were convinced that the whole thing was a coincidence. However Chinn has mentioned a conversation with Bowie about the coincidence.  He said Bowie "looked at me completely deadpan and said 'Cunt!' And then he got up and gave me a hug and said, 'Congratulations'.

An an anthem for rebellious youth, Blockbuster knocks Anarchy In The UK into a crock o' shite.
