Ant Farm Keyboard

Just a reminder that everyone's(*) favorite satire of hipsters and millennials is back on June 25. As it's moved from TBS to HBO Max, they'll actually release three episodes at once for the first week, similar to what will happen for Doom Patrol. This season will be about Dory and Drew's trial, while the case turns the entire gang into viral sensations.

Is there a trailer? Naturally, there's a trailer, which promises us a few appearances by Christine Taylor, Louis Anderson or Chelsea Peretti.

And a fourth season is already confirmed.

(*) Except for the fans of Girls. There must still be a few of them alive.

I can't wait for this, it feels like it's ages since season 2 but I'm glad it's finally nearly here, and that there's going to be a fourth season too. What with us getting three episodes of this and the superb Doom Patrol the 25th should be a fantastic day for binging tv, especially if the second season of The Twilight Zone isn't shit like the first one was.

amputeeporn

How was s2? Really enjoyed the first but felt like it was getting into quite 'forced' territory by the end...

Mister Six

Fantastic stuff - haven't seen season two, so I need to get properly caught up.

Ant Farm Keyboard

Season two had a different mood, and was all the better for it. The event at the end of first season radically altered some relationships, and it was explored at length, until reality caught up with the four main characters in the finale.

I don't think that there was some dip in quality. The release of season three was delayed because the show was a tough sell on TBS, but must have been a hit on the TBS streaming service, with some fine reviews to boot. So they waited until the big Warner Media streaming service launched to offer a show that had some great word of mouth but was a discovery to the subscribers, just like Doom Patrol.

They do a theme every season right? So series 3 will be the

I enjoyed season 1 but season 2 was too nasty/dark/unfunny for me (I gave up partway). Hope they have more wacky hipsters and don't decide to go further down a grim direction. This isn't 2005 and we're not Mark Lawson.

Small Man Big Horse

This is now out, surprisingly it's not on RarBg but it's on the Pirate Bay and ReleaseBB. The first episode is a strong opener too, a fair bit of satire of the police, along with ongoing craziness with Dory's arrest, some fun scenes with a

Portia or Elliott. There's little else on right now (bar my beloved Doom Patrol) so I'm going to try and not binge this, but I imagine it'll be quite difficult as I can't wait to see how it pans out.

Any chance Channel 4 will get this in the next soontime?

It's moved from TBS to HBO Max so I really don't know, I'm guessing probably not right now but perhaps maybe at some point, but I couldn't say for sure.

Warner Media's end game is now to consolidate within two or three years all the stuff that already belongs to HBO Max in the US, so they can launch the service in other countries. Finding a foreign network is not high on their priorities, it's at best a stopgap measure with a short contract that may not be very interesting for the network, as they're not sure to get the rights to the next seasons, etc.

Might as well put this all in spoiler tags as I've now watched the finale -
Spoiler alert
and like Kitsofan34 above I presumed given that a fourth season had been commissioned, and the ridiculous amount of evidence and witnesses against Dory and Drew, that they'd end up in prison next year, but apparently not. That said the ending for Dory's almost as bleak as she's in the clutches of her obsessed fan, in a deeply horrible moment, though it's hard to know quite what to feel as she's gone from being a vaguely sympathetic lead to a pretty unlikeable individual this year. Still, I did enjoy the season an enormous amount, the satire of the media's coverage of the trial was beautifully carried out and enjoyably vicious, and I presume that will continue next time around given that Elliott's now going to be a tv presenter. The only thing I'm not certain about is why Elliott wasn't prosecuted as well, I know it was hand waved away as not being worth their time but I didn't buy that, and am surprised he got off scot free. Otherwise it was a fantastic season in general though, and I can't wait for it to return again, apparently season 4's already been shot so it won't be as long a gap.

I didn't really like it, felt it had broken free of the niche qualities of the first 2 seasons and went for very broad strokes that you tend to see in syndicated shows and rather cliched in parts. The characters were previously grotesques but full of sympathetic characteristics that lent a warmth to the show that was missing this time around. Instead of loveable but flawed hipster doofuses, you get culture warriors playing on modern tropes to feed the next generation of consume-without-feeling youth. That ending was far too

to feel part of this show. Sad.

Halfway through , it's mostly the same as before but the media focus seems like an absolutely huge misstep that doesn't work at all

The delay between seasons is kinda disorienting too. I was pretty in sync with where the characters were in their lives for the first two seasons.

I wish there was some way to watch this disappointing new series without a living in the US or using a VPN.

Edit: Just repeating what Alien Ant Farm mentioned above. But in short, there isn't right now, and it doesn't look like there will be for a while yet.

Shalita Grant's turn as Dory's lawyer is the funniest performance I've seen in years. Just perfect in every way.

I agree. She had this very annoying way of speaking, yet she was able to show that her character wasn't as stupid or superficial as she sounded.
