Revealed\Confirmed with Trailer out

Glad to see they (along with Ratchet and Clank) are trying to move past operating purely in the nostalgia cycle, even if they're keeping one foot in it by pulling the old "this is a sequel only to the ones you liked" trick.

I know it's abjectly stupid to care about this, but the smug revisionism of calling it "Crash Bandicoot 4" is very annoying to me. The game itself looks OK I guess, but nothing in that trailer particularly sells it as being any more of a worthwhile or legitimate follow-up to the PS1 games than Wrath of Cortex was back in 2001.

I remember we ended up at a friends house after a night out and everyone fell asleep but I had one friend that was a bit compulsive like me and had to stay up until all the booze and weed was gone. We ended up cracking open a few bottles of the girls lambrini towards the end and took turns playing one of these crash games.
I remember it being quite easy, lots of check points when you arsed up. Can't imagine replaying and rinsing it but it was a good fun, one and done game. A good stab at Sony trying to make a mascot platformer, I thought at the time. Decent.

I don't think I'd be interested in more of the same, I had my fill in that one night I think.
Gaming is very repetitive but as you get older you find the things you like and that you're happy to play slight revisions of to death and those 3d platformers aren't really on my list.

Not at the minute, at least, sometimes you take a long break from a genre or style of game you're tired of and come back fresh and they're great fun again.

Yeah it's a weird one, because it's not like with Sonic games where going 3D drastically changed things up, they carried on making games that were in a similar style to the PS1 games. It wasn't Naughty Dog making them, but this isn't either so...

I guess with the 'N Sane Trilogy remake collection selling so well, they can sort of justify the "4" with this as a follow on from that

Nah still makes no sense at all on any level sorry mate

Fatboy Slim as trailer music, very hip and current.

Game looks great. The 4 is kind of an annoying choice though, especially because Wrath of Cortex wasn't even that bad.

Should probably see for myself what I think of the old Crash games now. Not touched them in years, but I liked them at the time, but over the years I somehow let all the Nintendo apologists convince me they were bad actually. But they're all paedo's so they might be wrong.

Yeah, I remember there were some graphs doing the rounds a few years ago, pornhub had released their per-console most popular porn search results and they were something like

nintendo - "cartoon kids"
ps4 - "wanna fuck mommy"
xbox - "teeeens braaah!"

I think most of the PC searches were just like "missionary position", "healthy adult", "how to access dark web" that sort of thing.

Oh, there we go, from 2013, I don't know if there's one that's more up to date, they seem to have stopped sharing per console results.
You can look at the different results by country here though, which is interesting. Nothing poo related even makes the list for Germany - https://www.pornhub.com/insights/2019-year-in-review

C_Larence

the next gamergate is going to be about video game characters taking selfies, and it'll be justified. this looks shit.

Supposed to be invoking a 90's retro feel, as it harks back to the period the first 3 came out in. I don't know, I thought it was a nice touch.

Game looks pretty decent, better than I was expecting from some of the leaked screenshots. Probably not enough to push into the buy threshold for me though.

The genres are quite conservative considering only sick fucks use a console to search the internet especially for porn.

What's the cut off for this? You don't see people saying this about songs from the 70s or 80s, like. The Rockafeller Skank is 22 years old and fucking rules, anyway.

oustropique

Liked Fatboy Slim in the trailer. It's 1998 at the start of 4, so it works, and is great anyway.

This feels very well made but just like more of the same, even if I do like the wall jumping and running on ceilings. Calling it 4 is very smug, but will shift copies to the sort of people who care enough.
