My post was a bit shitty in tone but what does "white girl music" even mean? Music liked by white girls? Music made by white girls? Why is either one automatically a bad thing?

Anyway, been enjoying Gazelle Twin and some of Richard Devine, so quite glad you said that in the end.

Wish they'd included SOPHIE but you can't have everything.

JamesTC

Feel like shit. Just want to run around 2077 with cyborg implants and a new vagina.

Claude the Racecar Driving Rockstar Super Sleuth

Bloody typical: A load of great music is going to be ruined by yet another action RPG.
White bloke gaming.

El Unicornio, mang

Actually really looking forward to this now, especially the comment that it's "an rpg, not an action game" and that it's very slow paced (but not in a detrimental way).

The character creation seems pretty deep too, going as far as being able to adjust penis size or level of vagina pubic hair. Can imagine myself fiddling about with all this stuff for hours before starting the actual game, even though you never actually see your character aside from in reflections and on the menu.

Ferris

That sounds like a bit of a waste of dev time tbh

bgmnts

60 hour work week and sleeping in the office just to put some minge hair on a cyberfanny.

El Unicornio, mang

It's been in development since 2012, probably some of the bored devs doing it while they're waiting for everyone else to finish their parts.

Can you honestly say you have had a more productive working week in your career?

Can't wait to be hairy fannied cyborg.

Zetetic

There's probably off-the-shelf middleware that does all that for you by this point.

Yes, the dream.

It's like Weird Science but better

A week left to release. I've got half a day off in work on Thursday and all of Friday off.

They can't possibly delay it again, can they?

I felt like such a fucking idiot for actually googling to check what I was 99% sure was a joke.

Nah it's locked in now. The game has already been sent out to some people so careful of spoilers on social media.

Was hoping to have a PS5 for my time off work at christmas but no luck, so hoping this runs ok on PS4.

I'm excited though, been waiting a long time. Looks great, so much dialogue and conversation choices and open ended stuff.

evilcommiedictator

Some of my mates here in Australia ordered their GOG codes via Amazon for 30% off the RRP, and have now got an email saying there might be delays, and they can ask for a refund.
Serves them right for using Amazon tbh

JamesTC

If only they did the sensible thing and used a VPN to buy it from GOG in a cheaper country. I got Cyberpunk 2077 as well as all of The Witcher series in a bundle for around £30 (RUB 2377).

Cuellar

Is this going to be good then?

brat-sampson

I mean, I don't think it's going to be bad, though it might run pretty badly on base PS4/XBONE hardware... I expect the internet to be jam-packed with hot takes from Dawn on Thursday about the graphics, the performance, the bugs, the approach to tackling themes, the writing, the character creation, how well it matches the pen-and-paper RP game, and just... everything, and will be trying to avoid as much of it as possible while I actually spend time with the game and form my own opinions.

I'm massively looking forward to it, and don't want the inevitable immediate backlash online that everything popular receives instantly to drag me down.

Transphobic game, do not buy

bgmnts

This has to be almost the perfect game now to justify the level of crunchy delay, I say.

Fingers crossed.

Hmm

Might pirate it

Will be easy to get hold of soon after release, they're famously against copy-protection on any of their games.

Is the game transphobic? I know there was a minor stir about a shot of an in-game ad featuring a heavily sexualized trans person, but it seems in keeping with the look. Plus, the character creator allows any combinations of gender/genitals/no genitals so seems pretty trans friendly in that respect.

I've been vaguely following this argument on Resetera.

They are quite, quite insane.

Mister Six

Wait, what? I thought it had woke applause for not having set genders in character creation?

prwc

There's some more details on that aspect of the game here. Just fucking pirate it, that in conjunction with the brutal crunch and the fact they'll make an absolute fortune off it anyway makes it not only ok but the more ethically sound option.

Maybe you were thinking of CoD BlOps CoWa and then passed out.

JamesTC

The brutal crunch? Polish labour laws mean they can't do more than 8 hours of overtime per week up to a maximum of 150 hours a year.

If it works like the UK then you can voluntarily agree to work more than the government mandated maximum but it needs written consent (I've worked significantly more than the UK max and never signed one when I should have though).

Also consider that the developers of Cyberpunk will be sharing 10% of the 2020 profits as a bonus. If you are concerned about crunch then don't play it as pirating it just means you are enjoying something they have worked hard on whilst leaving them with a lower bonus.

BeardFaceMan

And if you refuse to 'voluntarily' sign on for extra overtime, I'm sure that would be perfectly fine and have no effect on your career.

Oh, I haven't followed any of the advertising and I've barely left my home in the past year so this passed me by.

Yeah that's quite shit isn't it? If it were a poster in the game it would be one thing, but the "parody of commercialising minorities" get out doesn't work when you're actually commercialising minorities.

EDIT: Actually it turns out it wasn't a real-life poster but one from within the game itself glimpsed at a distance in a screenshot, which actually does fit the defence better, although it's hard not to suspect they knew people would zoom in on the ad, which is in the middle of the shot, and get angry about it.

I'll hold off a few years until it's out on PS5 at a discount in any case. (Unless I win the lottery and can afford to drop two grand on a top-of-the-line PC just to make a point that the publisher won't even know about.)
