I've been waiting for this one for a while: "philosopher king" cult leader Stewart Molynew's huge channel finally shut down: https://www.rightwingwatch.org/post/youtube-%e2%80%8bbans-six-big-white-nationalist-channels/

You know, I wonder how much (or how little) AD REVENUE youtube were getting from these channels. Because I can't help feeling like that more than anything else played a role in these channels going bye-bye. They certainly tolerated them long enough.

Also I am obliged to point out some of the best ever humans (Brian Eno, Patrick Stewart, Darwin, Jeff Bezos) are bald.

I feel like the corporations are just noticing that people are a bit pissy lately and are making gestures to convince us that they're on our side, hoping that we'll forget about demanding systematic changes that will cost them money

On the other hand I am aware that this reading of the situation means that incremental change can never be viewed as positive

I think this ties in with the reddit-ban thread. As I said there. The companies are re-running their numbers after some high-profile bans have been well-received. Yes, they're different platforms but they're all jumping on the same bandwagon for the same reasons and that's where the discussion is.

I wonder if there'll be any meaningful backlash from governments, or if they'll mostly be happy just to milk this stuff for talking points.

The OP is about someone called Stefan Molyneux rather than Steven, by the way. I just read the page of a Stephen Molyneux, who is admittedly quite bald but whose wiki page is free of mentions of white supremacy.

Not he. He does something quite worthy sounding with computers for schools. But look how bald he is.

I quite often hear the name and think that the guy who done Fable and that went to a very dark place.

i only ever really saw stefan on hbomberguy and shaun videos, but god, he was a creepy fuck. that toothy grin. weird head movements. fucking nonsense arguments about women needing to make babies. not to mention that bonce

joe satriani, there's a nice bald dude.

Isn't this just going to lead to the growth of and funnelling of people to extreme right spaces like Bit Chute? Or perhaps it will lead to a socialist utopia.

Up for regulating positive and negative limits to expression in privately-owned public spaces then?

Not happening as they're privately owned and do as they like. As they have done here.

Fingers-crossed for the socialist utopia then, I guess.

what if jesus was bald? that would be a turn up for the books

It's about as likely as some hypothetical government's hypothetical policy turning profit centred tech company platforms into vehicles for progress.

Stefan Molyneux appears like a failed cult leader. He wants to be a leader of something. Seems like the kind of chap who would have followed the steady life journey of incel - Pick-up Artist - Motivational Speaker - YouTube Commentator - Life Coach

never heard of him, but just looked at his response video on his twitter and my immediate thought was "cult leader". Go and donate on his freedomain page, help a guy out.

I think the world has moved on. I have no ability to understand social media or culture wars. A long, lonely walk is better I think.

He always strikes me as deranged and pleased with himself and looking round for support and applause, all at the same time.  I'd love to push him out of a tree house.  Show him who's in charge.

Almost exactly right

his progression was "libertarian" (back when Ron Paul was a thing), atheist (back when Hitchens was a thing), anti-feminist/MGTOW (aka the "manosphere"), anti-Hilary in 2016, and, in two short steps, a "isn't it sad" kind of racist (after the Bell Curve) to a "pro-white" "ethnonationalist": https://www.rightwingwatch.org/post/stefan-molyneux-says-his-trip-to-poland-sold-him-on-white-nationalism/

I'm on record on here as being an admirer of Jordan Peterson, but I will say that when he appeared on this evil man's show (and it wasn't the only alt right one he appeared on) I felt sort of sick. Especially since Peterson would criticise social justice "warriors" while unquestioningly joining these "free speech" warriors.

From my experience, there is a lot of this amongst Canada's intellectual elites.

I can't believe it took that for you to see through Peterson. Without wishing to turn this into a bash/fellate Jordan Peterson thread, the man is an utterly craven pseudo-intellectual grifter.

It's certainly gotten progressively harder to defend what is good in him. He is a good person inside, i.e. as he was pre-politics. imho.
