Oz Oz Alice

Both this, Pillow Talk by Lustr, and the Saint Pepsi track that samples it: https://youtu.be/PfYlxH5HAXg

Plus also a tonne of similar Italo and hi NRG records but I'd be here all night.

Sin Agog

I'll get all the weeaboo shit out of the way first (although Kahondo only had a Japanese singer):

Japanese '60s band called 'Drifters' released this stupidly upbeat novelty single called Il Yu Da Na that's apparently been brought back to life by Death Stranding, which is cool.  Not played it yet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzXnucKfHEE

Hi-Posi - Jenny is Bad Mood https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-w38EJz6D14

Kahondo Style - Green Dream https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iwa4Sn6nokw

Zombie-Chang - anything from her first antifolk EP Atashi wa Nan desu ka really before she took up a more nondescript synthpop style https://vocaroo.com/cPrns5KKS7A

One of the better twitchy '80s weirdo outfits Haniwa-Chan - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AD9bBCnrC5A

----

Always adored this Sun Ra-produced bit of jukebox doo wop - Daddy's Gonna Tell You No Lie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1YzGXzgEuNc

Fibonaccis - March to Heaven https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2K88ZLQbIQ

Jonathan Richman's little impish glee of pleasure around the sixteenth fake-out in the live version of Ice Cream Man is thee most joyful moment in music https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nu3TvC9CH18

The Homosexuals sounding not very much like The Homosexuals but still just as good - Jesus https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Z_HTAEJESY

Slim Gaillard was just the coolest motherfunker, playing piana with upside down hands and inventing his own language called Vout - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKdrnTTDTqo

Fred Lane - French Toast Man - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=keBzy5-iRyo

And music rarely comes happier than the French band Dragibus - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_fNQAgHA8c

Joyce - Aldeia De Ogum

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2x0JtEFKXg

Sebastian Cobb

Piano house on a hot summer's day.

All the early Suburban Base stuff.

I've been trying to find an excuse to post Tulip - Welcome To My House, which is a Japanese band doing a reasonably successful version of ELO/Beatles pop

Sin Agog

Well that's some perfect pop right there. Cheers for that.

Eurhythmics - There Must Be An Angel

reaaaaaallly good pick. will always remind me of 1st week/months of Uni, me and my flatmates, not much in common, but sticking this one on, ironically at first and then accepting we actually really liked it. belting out the intro together. laughing and dancing around our squalid shithole. 5 bags of popcorn and one of those little lines of ketamine

read thread title, was about to post this, realised OP already dunnit. evokes very fond memories personally, but still feel like it's objectively a very happy, upbeat song. 10/10 banger

Crabwalk

Agree with pretty much everything in this thread, bar 'It's A Shame About Ray', which is a great song but one I've always found incredibly melancholic.

I've been listening to nothing but upbeat music this summer in a desperate attempt to keep the crippling blues at bay, and these are some of the tracks that have endeavoured to keep me on the sunny side of the road:

Leroy Hutson - Positive Forces

Lloyd Price - Coconut Woman

Band Aid - A Tour In Italy

Joe Bataan - Latin Strut

Beckie Bell - Music Madness

Boban Petrovic - Prepad

Ned Doheny - Each Time You Pray

ProvanFan

Phil Minton - Kunstraum Düsseldorf (PanRec Bootleg Series Vol. 5)

Absolutely. Annie Lennox is able to generate an incredible amount of joyful feelings, even in her more serious songs. I can't recommend this Strong Songs episode about Walking On Broken Glass enough: https://strongsongspodcast.com/walking-on-broken-glass-by-annie-lennox

Thieves Like Us by New Order

My god, the sounds in that song are something special.

Sometimes I forget how much I love New Order.

Ionnalee - Vista.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GIr2SJlzXvc&list=LLo32_Xg9COkMp3r-QYacLkw&index=82&;

This is where I got my dance style from. Love a good waft along to the BLUE album. Also brings back very happy memories of seeing her live at Paradiso Noord, where I wafted like mad.
