Or maybe Kirby is just not as obscure as I thought he was. As of now, Everywhere at the End of Time (Stages 1-6) has 1,049,644 views on YouTube, which quite frankly amazes me (especially since so many of the comments are from teenagers, who wouldn't automatically have such a poignant connection to the warped ballroom dance records early on). How did it get to be so popular? It's an astonishing project, to be sure, but it's a fucking difficult listen given the subject matter.

An Empty Bliss Beyond this World got good reviews and end-of-year list mentions from a fair few 'indie' music publications and that started the ball rolling for Kirby. The full compilation thing has a very high rating on RYM and I think the label of 'dark and terrifying' has seen it shared and written about a lot.
