they've made this album during lockdown, it's mostly improvised droney stuff similar to Stars of the Lids/Natural Snow Buildings, nothing mind-blowing but it's quite nice.

Retinend

Coincidentally, I recently came across the origins of the album title "I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One" and I just uploaded the scene in question, from Peter Seller's "After the Fox (1966): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_phMUjB3Vx0&t=2m48s

I like this more than anything else Yo La Tengo have released in the last 20 years. Would still rather be listening to Bardo Pond or Stars Of The Lid, though.

Edit: this is really good, in particular track 2

Aye been a nice surprise this, circumstances have led to them doing something a little different. Much as I love them, it feels like they've been treading a water bit with the last couple of albums. (Maybe understandable at their age)

I liked the dreaminess of There's a Riot Going On and it had a couple of stand-out Georgia songs in "Shades of Blue" and "Polynesia #1".
