Would have been just around the Paedogeddon special, so 19 years. Fucking hell.

Nineteen years this very day!  Fuck me!  I remember watching it that first time in (delighted) shock at it's daring.

I think I first visited CaB in 2000/2001 (I seem to recall arriving here via a link on Glebe's Thrift Funnel) looking for downloads of the Chris Morris Music Show. My first memory of reading the forum was the day after Paedogeddon, though I'm not entirely sure if it was the day after the original broadcast or the repeat showing after Big Brother that really kicked off the controversy. The rest of the site was closed off at that point, as Ambient Sheep recalls.

I can't remember much about the BES discussion other than being surprised quite a few posters didn't like it. I recall seeing another n00b, Simon Price of Melody Maker/Chart Music fame, asking how it had gone down with everyone.

I thought my original account had been lost in the crash, but it's still in the members list (with 0 posts), as is my post-crash account. I think I forgot my password for that one and just created a new account, which has been intermittently posting dull shite since 2006.
