This cropped up on twitter. Nice little archive of accounts from projectionists. I've only had a quick look so far, with a quick look round the virtual booth and some audio recordings of several projectionists getting angry about modern cinemas having the screen visible, which in the curtain days would appear to be a cardinal sin.

QuoteThe Cinema Projectionist is a new digital archive dedicated to the history of projection in UK cinemas.

It has been developed by researchers from @warwickuni
and includes a trove of photographs taken in projection boxes between the 1910s and 1960s: https://bit.ly/TheCinemaProje

I remember seeing The Watchmen at Park Royal Vue and I'm not sure if it was the projectionist or a member of the cinema staff, but as soon as the end credits came on, the volume was turned down to almost silence after 5 seconds of My Chemical Romance version of "Desolation Row". I'm no Dylan nut, but thank fuck they did.

Cheers for posting this anyway, will give it a read this afternoon.
