Mexico just passed the UK for total deaths. Brazil and the US have been hogging the limelight lately but the virus is taking hold across nations with large landmasses like Russia, India and in this case Mexico, which has been averaging above 500 deaths a day for 2 months.

The solution? A return of lockdown.

This is an extremely interesting read. The government have used PR and scapegoating to normalise the figures and death toll very effectively, while botching key decisions. Sound familiar?

Thanks Shoulders, interesting reads

I'm surprised Trump hasn't used this to prop up his wall. Keep the infected Mexicans out etc. "They bring disease."

Very much agree, in particular the President of Mexico's comments that he will only wear a mask when all corruption has been wiped out. Sounds very Trumpian.

Mexico looking potentially like it might have passed a peak, but the evidence from other countries with large landmasses is it will linger for quite a while yet.

They passed the UK not long back.

Not quite the same region but has anyone seen that Peru now have the 2nd worst deaths per million after Belgium? And case numbers there are exploding not tailing off so worse to come?

With the Government machinations, every country will soon surpass the UK deaths per million. ALL HAIL THE BORIS.
