Further lockdown easing despite high number of cases

On the day that Public Health England has been unable to report numbers after two days of over 1,000 new cases, the Government has relaxed restrictions further:

Under changes coming into force from 15 August:

QuoteIndoor theatre, music and performance venues will be able to reopen with socially distanced audiences
Wedding receptions in the form of a sit-down meal for up to 30 guests will be permitted
The piloting of a small number of sporting events to test the safe return of spectators will resume, commencing with the final of the World Snooker Championship at Sheffield's Crucible Theatre over the weekend
Casinos, bowling alleys, skating rinks and soft play centres will be allowed to reopen
"Close contact" beauty services such as facials, eyebrow threading, eyelash treatments, make up application and microblading will resume
Pilots will take place at conference venues ahead of the expected resumption of business events from 1 October at the earliest

How can they consider opening things up further given that cases are rising and schools are opening up next month? Soft play in particular is a big spreader of the virus, how is that going to be socially distanced.

Casinos can fuck off as well. More chances for desperate people to waste Thier money. They should all be closed and turned into affordable housing.

They don't care at this point.  Economy to save, herd immunity to be getting on with, lockdown probably seen internally as a mistake.

Either the government have no idea what they're doing, which is scary, or they know exactly what they're doing, which is downright terrifying.

Infinite (not infinite) number of ways to 'save' the economy. This is dunderhead, unimaginative and dangerous. Fuck this all. They could have reimagined a world without addiction for starters. Casinos?! fucking hell.

I caught a bit of Grant Shapps today being grilled by Charlie State (sp?) on BBC Breakfast of all places. Bumbling, nervous, contradictory, absolutely wrong. STILL IN JOB, STILL HERALDED, STILL VOTABLE.

DEATH CULT

Soft Play is a spreader of cold, bugs and viruses. It's impossible to sanitize at the best of times, let alone in the midst of a pandemic. But it is a place for parents to take toddlers after the shut down of Children's Centres and Community Hubs due to austerity. Children tend to love those places.

is that the punchline?

"Nuclear war will devastate the Earth, leaving billions dead and the remainder with life expectancies in single digits. But it is a necessary evil to rid the planet of those pesky Koreans. Those Koreans really are bad people"

Chedney Honks

Soft play is the cornerstone of a well-adjusted civilisation.

Over 1400 new cases today!

Everyone in the indoor bouncy castle!

230 of them apparently attributed to that sarnie factory but yeah NOT GOOD.  Where's the knee jerk brake squeezing?  I can't keep up with Boris's hokey cokeying.

Hard not to hear this post in the voice of Mark Corrigan.

Shoulders?-Stomach!

Walked through town last night and it looked the most normal it has for a long while. Almost impressive that the infection numbers haven't risen more steeply.

The incantations and blood rituals are coming along ok are they?

Oh, I take no joy in that fact. No joy whatsoever. Mr. Cummings, however.

Seriously today was MENTAL.  Everywhere was heaving, roads, shops... no social distancing, etc.  Worse than normal, more like bank holiday with a dash of run-up-to-Christmas.  Drove past a pub at 10ish and it was jam packed and spilling out onto the road.

I got the feeling that everyone knows what's coming and is ironically helping it to happen by getting one last big party going.

bgmnts

It's like some weird double think, places are locally quarantining but lockdown is easing.

Catalogue Trousers

Oh, and don't forget that evictions are due to recommence processing on 23 August. A lot of potentially homeless people across the UK who suddenly find themselves a lot less able to self-isolate even if they need to. I foresee that ending well.

fucking state of this

remember when we concentrated on the number of people actually dying from this?

admit you want everyone hiding indoors so their lives are as godawful as yours, having everyone dependent upon the state so that some far left moonbats can get elected is your end game, right?

Alberon

It'll be interesting (and mildly terrifying) to see how well universities fare when the students come back.

working for the Big Gov soon, friend. I'll have a word for you. I've told you anyway, I'm willing to listen over a nice pie and pint, roaring open fire, soft shadows playing games with the pictures of English landscapes past. oh Albion, we nurtured you once, in folly we desecrated you, oh Albion.

Zero deaths in the last 24 hours

REMAIN INDOORS

Or six, according to official figures. Not many, but not zero. You may want to get your eyes tested; as you get older, 0 and 6 do become a bit less differetiable. Similarly 9 and 8. Or just leave accuracy behind and go with your gut.

For context - 2 people died from StabbyStabLondon-19 yesterday

a reminder;

well you work in the public sector, so i don't expect you to have any synmpathies to the millions who face economic catastrophe in the private sector

and the likelihood of the far left capitalizing on the turmoil just sweetens the deal!

White van men can die off for all I care. Call me racist, but they should be sent to the bottom of the sea.
