Cocteau Twins - Blind Dumb Deaf

https://youtu.be/16b6RzPSdV8

Formed in Grangemouth by Robin Guthrie (guitars, drum machine) and Will Heggie (bass), adding Elizabeth Fraser (vocals) in 1981.This is from their first album, Garlands. Initially compared to  Siouxsie and the Banshees, they went on to set the template for the later dream pop and shoegaze movements. One of the major players in Indie, they released a further seven albums before disbanding in 1996.

Well I guess it's customary  to split these threads at this point, so let's move over here:

The Go-Betweens - People Know

Taken from the debut album, "Send Me A Lullaby" released in Australia in 1981 ('82 in the UK)

It's total bullshit that this band get a whole bridge named after them, absolutely middling outfit at best but they had connections and there has been a definite campaign by certain ex-drummers (who weren't even invited back for the reunion) to make this band seem more important than they ever were.  Where's the Saints bridge? The INXS off-ramp? The Men At Work tunnel? Even the mighty ACDC only get a shitty dirty dead end lane in Melbourne, the Bee Gees get a little street in coastal Queensland. They should get Highway 1!

Nine Below Zero - 11+11

Perhaps best known as the very first band to appear on The Young Ones - in the pilot episode, in fact, performing this very song - Nine Below Zero are a tough pub rock band from South London who achieved a modicum of success in the early '80s.

Still going. I saw them supporting Squeeze not that long ago.

82's a strange year for me. In that most of the stuff I really liked got in the charts. I haven't been able to think of a single oddity that I purchased that wasn't a hit. Very strange.

I know we're past 1982 in the other thread but I just couldn't let this one pass. I love this tune so much.

Kabbala - Ashewo Ara

Afro-funk from London, which is possibly how such a banger could be overlooked. The bass on this is phenomenal.

Also forgot to slip this in one for 1982 -
