I'll have this list too, except I'll swap Night of the Living Dead for An American Werewolf In London, and the French One for Bachelor Party.

Rizla

It's very hard isn't it. I'm only doing films that I can quote swathes of dialogue from and that I'll happlly sit through over and over again. I've still missed loads. Anyway it's wall to wall white men directors. I do like a bit of Tarkovsky, I've enjoyed Battle of Algeirs several times, I always enjoy me some Hitch and Loach and Truffaut and Leone and and but anyway...really struggled with this list!

1. Phantom of the Paradise
2. The Killing
3. A Clockwork Orange
4. Barry Lyndon
5. Dr Strangelove
6. Ghostbusters
7. Back to the Future
8. Time Bandits

22. The Prestige
23. O Lucky Man
24. The Abominable Dr Phibes
25. 12 Monkeys

Captain Z

I couldn't possibly narrow it down to 25. 26, maybe.

Same except with 193 films. Who knows really. But here is an attempt (as usual this changes at any time etc):

The Red Shoes
Singin' in the Rain
L'Atalante
Wild Strawberries
Wings of Desire
Pink Flamingos
Vagabond
Ratcatcher

3 Women
The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser
or Stroszek
The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover
or A Zed & Two Noughts
Once Upon a Time in the West
Umberto D.
Cría cuervos
Secrets & Lies
Lost Highway
Down By Law

Crash or Videodrome
Wake in Fright
The Cremator
Mon oncle
Ikiru
Conspirators of Pleasure
Sweet Smell of Success

and maybe In the Mood for Love, F for Fake, Häxan, The Passion of Joan of Arc, Daisies, Brazil, Suspiria, Carnival of Souls, Last Year at Marienbad, The Conversation, Network... ugh it goes on.

If we're adding short films, then "The Garden of Unearthly Delights" or "The Dante Quartet".

Great to see so many films from the 21st century so far.

If I were to include any it'd be Under the Skin, Carol, It's Such a Beautiful Day, Retrospekt, The Forbidden Room, Certified Copy and The Duke of Burgundy.

Yes, when I was a kid, but it wouldn't be something I'd watch today.... I'm usually trying to find 60/70s (or earlier) European dramas.

Buffalo 66 is the only film from the last 30 years? Remove Shadows of Paradise and they're all 40+ years old.
Why so heavily skewed against remotely recent stuff? What went wrong with film after 1980 for you, I mean?
