My problem is sometimes the ladies posted in their arent even a 4/10, and some of the men posted there have much better abs than me, but my shoulders are much better so it evens out.
I'm annoyed that the men posted there aren't always to my taste... post men I like, damnit!

Doesn't hold a candle to the "What do you actually look like?" threads.

Well, there hasn't been one in a while, did they just die from lack of interest? People got conscious about internet security? It was basically the opposite of the PHWOAARR thread with regards to gender balance, and seemed to be twice as cruel (by my reckoning). Worst part of it is that half the images are dead links

so I can't wank to them

(she's expressed a liking to Bottom, for instance, and basically raised me on Red Dwarf)...

When your mother has unusual sexual preferences like this it's not a surprise you've grown up a little repressed.

It would be better for everyone's body image if nudity was not the reserve of a sad little chronic wank corner like a peep show in 70s Soho, but something that commonly featured in our lives without much ceremony or presentation

I was almost shocked when watching the start of The Baader Meinhof Complex due to it just showing a nudist beach at the start, everyone naked (including the children) but it did make me wish that there wasn't this bizarre taboo over nudity, which is frankly ludicrous and bizarre. I recall a story on that internet of a child learning the word "penis" and adults around him pretended that the penis wasn't called a penis, but a "toot toot" or something stupid

I don't really look at it as it makes me feel a bit uneasy. They;re a bit sleazy really. When we used to be able to view the forum stats, (from what I remember) the 10 most viewed threads in C&B history were, by a large margin, the phwooaar ones.
That reminds me of my early teenage years when people of my cohort would buy The Sun just for Page 3, even though they could probably get porno at home

someone just posted a right munter in it everyone made fun of so I think it's pretty equal

IIRC most of the threads that were in that top 10 were 100 pagers, they gained the most views because they hung around the longest - having said that I think the phwoooaar one was top/near the top of the list.

I prefer women with quite big tits.

Wouldn't they get in the way of performing surgery?

my least favourite parts of it are where people give negative views of the people posted, be they women or men, that's the dodgiest part, though at least that seems to be relatively far and few between. I'm certainly no puritan, I'm all for open discussion of sex/sexual preference, but when it devolves into sexism (which negative opinions might fall into) is probably where it gets rum for me
So objectification is fine, as long as it's flattering?

I didn't feel like a proper CABBER until someone photoshopped Willie Thorne's bald head atop my own.

As for the Phwoarr thread?  It's inevitable that a heavily male young-to-middle aged forum is going to have a bit of lady leering at some point.  I think having it all in one thread keeps the rest of the place relatively free from check-out-this-hottie type filler posts.  Easily offended types are advised to steer clear - it's pretty clear what it contains from the title.

God, I don't want to suggest that! I'm mixed between "I'm not some sort of Whitehouse-esque sexual conservative" and "this thread of photos mostly of women is a bit weird for a normally right-on forum". Hence my lack of real opinion beginning the thread... this is what the theory behind feminism can give answers to, maybe? Ehhhhh, I dunno

It does seem that the rest of the forum is free from that kind of stuff (usually), maybe it's good there's a containment area, though I do consider that the current thread isn't the first of its kind, and it does fill up fast... no judgement here, really

Maybe objectification is bad and sometimes difficult to avoid but objectification whilst slagging off the person being objectified is worse.

Just a thoughht.

Captain Z

Be careful - the OP might just be looking for juicy pictures of tits to wank over.

I suppose it depends how we're defining objectification. It could be any voicing of appreciation for someone's looks; to censor that outright under the guise of feminism feels somewhat at odds with the fact that it's obviously not just straight cis men who have these thoughts (and as per my previous post, men certainly don't have a monopoly on being shallow, crass and generally a bit base and grotty when it comes to that stuff).

Having said that, unfortunately it's not a level playing field - most girls and women are used to a lifetime of being made to feel like utter shit (or even afraid for their safety) for looking or not looking a certain way, and this type of thing can be incredibly damaging. A few years back when I was completely convinced I must be the most hideous repulsive eyesore under the sun, hearing/seeing constant appreciation of women's attractiveness just reinforced my belief that would never ever be me, and I might as well just give up on thinking I'd ever be considered of worth or taken seriously because I was clearly an absolute waste of space in the eyes of the world.

I don't feel that way any more (and I wasn't even aware of CaB's existence at that point, so I'm certainly not blaming PHWOAARR for my acute unhappiness), but it's worth bearing in mind that everything we say and do does play into a bigger narrative, even if it's not one that directly affects you.

For what it's worth, aside from the aforementioned occasional critical comment, the thread's tone has never struck me as properly unpleasant or misogynist - overall (at least, in the time I've been aware of it) it seems along the typically self-deprecating lines of "I find this person very attractive but obviously I'd never stand a chance with them", along with lots of "They've all... by the time..." jokes thrown in (which strike me as a bit of self-aware silly wordplay rather than anything dubious).

Instead it should be overwhelmed by increasing people's exposure to nudity by expressing normality and to an extent, sex lives, in, all shapes, sizes and complexion.

Take your top off.

I can't objectify this child, he's my son!

Nothing to do with the thread topic but I went to see "Naked Boys Singing" in a very cold beer garden at the weekend, where six men in their twenties / thirties sing a number of songs completely naked. After about half an hour of staring at the various penises I've come to the discussion that anyone who finds a penis attractive is weird. Sure, men can be sexy, but their genitals? Nope, it's official, they're bloody rubbish.

Buelligan

I never visit it because I'm not interested at all in who people fancy.  I also worry that people I might otherwise like a lot may post some shit there that would make me despise them, so I never read it, just to be on the safe side.

At this time of year, they could be mistaken for the Blue Man Group.

So you paid to go and see some young fellas get their cocks out and sing showtunes? Bit gay.

It was about as gay as you can get and yet I'm still not gay myself, I really don't know what I need to do.

Pingers

I find very few of the images in there actually attractive, most are of the manufactured 'this is what you're supposed to look like' type. What I do like is the infiite variants on "She could saddle up with me!", generally gets a laugh out of me.

Retinend

I say it only to cut through the humbug: there is nothing wrong with phwoaring women for their skills in combination with good looks. It's the ones who are only good looking that are sexist to phwoar. It is better to share a picture of a beautiful bon-viveur like Katie Puckrick, Yaught-Rock afficianado and expert in scents:

than to share a picture of ...human being, Tara Babcock:

who, if I were attracted to, I should rather keep to myself in mixed company like these forums.

Well I've done step 2 countless times, but shall nip out to buy Heat tomorrow to see if I can finally get the job done.
