Saturdays in olden times were when the todman came
Pushing on his todding-cart in sunshine or in rain
"'ave thee ony tods f'cart" that was his merry cry
"'come thee, put owt tods me lads an' lasses, don't be shy"
and granny in her cardigan, father in his vest
would carry over armfuls of their tods, for they were blessed
i think oft of the todman, rapping todstick at the door,
I wonder why we never see the todman anymore?
