Pink Gregory

There's a really good SLee appearance on the Quietus podcast as well, from 2017 or so

BlodwynPig

He told me he was a Tangerine Dream fan, which took me off guard and made my day.

DrGreggles

He did a Zoom 'gig' with Boothby Graffoe the other day.

Was waiting for somewhere to post the Asian Dub Foundation track that he mentions:

Just listened to this for the first time.

It's not very good at all. Sounds like the kind of of thing I could have done Playstation Music 2000. Horrendously dated in both musical style and the political issue being put across.

I expected something better from Stewart Lee.

Captain Z

4th time this track has been slated on this forum for reasons I just don't understand.

They're Asian Dub Foundation. They make dub music. The very least you can say is that it's exactly what you'd expect from them.

It's a cut-up/chopped/processed sample of a routine from Comedy Vehicle in 2013. Stew did not perform this for or with them. Even though he did subsequently appear in a video they've made for it.

Dated political issue???

The "Coming over here" rhetoric. It's a bit of lazy outdated cliche. Used a lot by racists in the 70s and 80s. Not so much these days.

No, that's not true. I know people who practically start every sentence with 'They come over here'.

Have you been outside/switched on the TV/read social media in the last 4 years?

Loads. I got out my political bubble a few years ago (one of the best things I ever did) and engage all the time with people who I politically disagree with and I never hear them utter the cliche of "Coming over here".

I guess I'm just fortunate to not encounter all these racist stereotypes.

If they're *not* coming over here I'm not sure that leaves the bigot very much room for manoeuvre

"They should stick to their own bloody country, which in fairness they are doing it must be said"

amputeeporn

From Stoke on Trent, can confirm 'They come over here...' is in full working active use.

I'm glad you haven't heard it recently in exactly those terms, but I present to you exhibit a: Brexit.

By which I mean, I also live in Stoke on Trent and can doubly confirm it's a largely pro-UKIP shit hole (and also that I know the local lingo for hello).
