I DON'T LIKE SOFT-ASS SHIT.

Oh, you don't, mm, hmm, mm. Well, I only bring it up 'cause, it's you. You're the rocketman.

Custard

It's superb. It's the 70's condensed down to 3 minutes. IN A GOOD WAY

Crackling, dusty vinyl Elton magic

(It is a bit of a rip off of Space Oddity, mind. No wonder Bowie hated it)

I love it and always have

Obviously you've seen shatners version, but if you haven't by some miracle, YouTube it

Dr Rock

I like it a lot, and when I sing it in Karaoke app Smule, I even add a bit that improves it.

Ballad of Ballard Berkley

A beautiful song, I love it, but I will never for the life of me be able to remember what Elton sings in the chorus after "Rocket Maaan..." It sounds like "Rocket Man, burning down the shoes of Avalon."

I do actually know what the lyric is, I've looked it up, but for some reason it never sticks in my head.

The Mollusk

I like to sing my own lyrics: "ROCKET SPLIFF, SMOKING ALL THE WEED IN BABYLON"

Cuntbeaks

The cod reggae Kate Bush version is superior.

There, I've said it.

Just realised I've heard it - pap blood

Edit - OK this is pretty good akshually, little Irish jig bit at the end, good old Katie

Bently Sheds

It's a second division Space Oddity, but it's still got a cracking chorus and a great atmosphere to it.

The inspiration was actually Cos I Love You by Slade a few months earlier.

I'm still stinging about "Dirty Little Girl" and some of Bernie's other touching songs about the "ladies". Sexist misogynist rubbish. Even back when I was a mad fan in the 80's and heard all this stuff for the first time, I was like "ew".

touchingcloth

I'm not familiar with it, could you hum a few bars?

I like it but this is true.

dissolute ocelot

There's a song by psych-folk band Pearls Before Swine called "Rocket Man" which is unrelated but is also the most depressing song ever written. Lyrically it's closer to "Space Oddity" but more whiny. (It's based on a Ray Bradbury short story, as all folk songs should be.)

Christ, side 3 of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. It's the worst side. Prostitutes, sluts, and lesbians!

It doesn't sound much like the worst side to me.
