The snooker won't be finished by 9:30 so the other one will be bumped too.

Well, that's my evening wasted! Now I have to keep checking the sodding schedules for when they reschedule the bastards!

Not sure why they even had the Pops episodes in the schedules if they were showing live snooker.

20 years ago I'd be pissed off that the snooker had disrupted 90s episodes of The Simpsons. And now here I am pissed off that it's disrupted 90s episodes of TOTP.

I'm pretty sanguine about it, despite its last minute nature. Got used to disruptions from the snooker Worlds and the Proms.

Should be rescheduled for Fri 7th May (double bill), barring any royal tragedies. I'm curious to see why Malandra Burrows was in the charts. Have Emmerdale ever had a legit pop star, not including P. Kensit?

Frazer Hines had a pop at the charts (in 1969) -

Amos Brearly's cover of 'Too Drunk To Fuck' was a flop.

Some of us are still trying to forget Hillbilly Rock, Hillbilly Roll by The Woolpackers, which made the top 5 in 1996...

Shame this didn't chart

I can just picture the Pops performance for that, various members of the Sugden family 'raving' awkwardly on stage to a baffled studio audience. Frazer Hines would be absolutely going for it, mugging for the camera and ad-libbing the occasional "Woo! Pump up the jam!", and every so often you'd cut to an uncomfortable Clive Hornby having no idea what the fuck he's doing and why he agreed to this.

I knew you lot would hit gold! The Woolpackers seem definitive. I'll bet Emmer Dance doesn't make Norman Records' 'best albums of 1996'!

We know that 'Enders had a few chart hits but I'm surprised Corrie didn't have more than they did. Bill Tarmey hit the top 40 a couple of times in the 90s but Matthew Marsden apparently had a hit single, with Destiny's Child on backing vocals. I mean technically he made his acting debut on Emmerdale but he had a brief pop career post-Corrie.

Can't believe no-one released 'The Emmerdale rap' as Woolpac (Tupac)

I could have sworn Adam Rickitt got to #1 or #2, but apparently I Breathe Again peaked at #5.

Came to check which episodes I missed last week as it was the first Friday I've been out and unable to watch it in about a year, and lo, it wasn't even on. I'm not in the snooker competition either, honest.

I used to feel the same way when I wanted to watch Star Trek on a Wednesday. Always snooker took precedence!

An article from the Guardian about the Top Of The Pops repeats on BBC Four (which thinks the reruns are on 1991).

Quote
We are really keen on Simon Mayo and Mark Goodier,” says Oli. “They are probably the gold standard. Simon Mayo is genuinely funny, and Mark Goodier seems to care about music.” When Bruno Brookes and Anthea Turner are on, “we really cringe”.

These people do not speak for me.

I thought that Mayo, like Peel, overdid the sarcasm conveying contempt he felt for the music. If you don't like pop music, don't host a fucking pop show.

I genuinely thought Mayo was clueless about music in the typical prime time 80's/90's 'radio personality' way, that meant it didn't matter, but now he's a director on Scala FM or some shit.

There's obvious a bit of snark in that but I do feel there's a whole new dimension to him. Dark horse and all that.

Let's talk to some tinpot Barry Shitpeas who calls himself Oli, instead of you know, some actual journalists who've devoted four years of their lives to the most comprehensive and entertaining dissection of Top Of The Pops known to man.  Morons.
