Civ Rev: Religion

Keep getting a religious defeat on turn 325 by the Sumerians whilst playing as Kongo, and my autosave only goes back 4 turns so its doing my nut in trying to figure this 4 turn scenario around.

Was religion always so easy on Civ Rev games? I barely remember it being an easy thing to do.
