QuoteMartin Lambie-Nairn, the noted designer who created popular "idents" for the BBC and Channel 4, has died aged 75.

His design consultancy created Channel 4's original animated "blocks" logo in 1982 and the globe balloon idents used by BBC One from 1997 to 2001.

His company also produced memorable idents for BBC Two, one of which had blue paint splashing horizontally across the screen to hit a metallic 2.

Iconic 80s/90s TV. I expect Applemask and/or Bob the Fish will be pulling something together.

BtF has put out a video:

Starts off with some of Lambie's earlier stuff, titles for long forgotten shows (must have been a slog finding copies of them), then gets into the classic 4.

Another video to come, which I presume will cover the big 2.

The Morris Casanova of TV idents.

Those 2 ones were great. Did he have anything to do with the current giant metallic 4 thing or is it just a homage?
